I think the critics were kind to it due to Clowes's involvement. Any other guy would've got his ass handed to him. The satire that worked so well in the comics translated to something really hammy in the movie. And the additional plot was just ridikalis.

I will be stoned to death for this, but I never liked Moore's writing. Too florid for my taste.

Also, Moore is more capes & leotards-friendly. I know many comics geeks who have barely heard of Clowes. Seriously.

He's being super nice to Tomine because the influence is acknowledged several times.

Their music, any good? Hot Fuss sounded like an emo bitch with 80s fixation.

On the album or in the film? Too disgusted w/ the album to really have an opinion of his work on it. As a person he always comes across as a cool dude who keeps to himself. What killed me about the film was the sheer mediocrity of it all. If you erase early Metallica from your memory, they looked like an unfunny…

Finally got around to seeing Some Kind of Monster. Yeesh, a bunch of illiterate middle-age douche-bros talking about feelings and shit. And what to say about the resulting album? Frantictictictic, indeed.
