Some thoughts…
I have to stick up for Ewing a bit. I think it's a plus to have a character like him be more understated in order to let the wild caricatures around him speak for themselves. He is that rare first-person narrator who hardly plays a part in what he's observing. More Carroway than Cavendish.

Without Peppermint Pattie there could be no Buffy.

Todd is my fav. I don't think it's fair to say he wastes too much prose on personal experiences. He looks for trends in television and patterns across a series. Furthermore, I appreciate how he tries to find something distinctive to say about an episode. As a west coast blogger, he is careful never allows his thunder

Journey
As a real life boring teacher, I have to say that it is amazing how much kids at my high school love "Don't Stop Believing" nowadays. It was featured at a recent pep rally, I had a student create a presentation on it last week, and at prom last weekend, it was the only non-hip-hop song even played (and the

Look, I don't mind the desire of Todd to be concessionary. I'm the last guy to ever say that you shouldn't grant the other side a few points. I mean, I'll allow that there are some times when reviewing something when you have to allow for this and that before you make your point. I'll even grant there might be long

Hello, dear.

I have to say, there's no other show on Thursday night that could have developed quite so dark an episode. I appreciate that the writers are deliberate in making Micheal sometimes sincerely unlikable, rather than just a lovable, well-meaning goof.

I remember that strong bad email:

This episode reminded me of the 22 Short Films thing about a spinoff that focuses on the supporting cast.

I guess you finally made a monkey out of me…

0 reasonable discussions?
Must make…Troy McLure reference…in next… thirty seconds…can't think…DANGIT!

Thirded.

I'm sad to admit that I remember something from the pilot episode where Goofy says to Max, "I know you miss your mom" or something that implied she was dead.

Did they make it a park or did they just fill it?

I think she could do it. Mackuly Culkin (however you spell that) hosted when he was like nine. Just work a pre-recorded bit into the monologue, give her less than three lines on the inevitable Keenan Thompson "I interrupt you!" show, and have Wilco play an extra time or something.

More inevitable skits:

@ Gillian and Gray Man, yes those two were very good.

Redford's Gatsby
I teach American Lit. and when it came time recently to find a film adaptation of Gatsby, I was disappointed that the 1974 Great Gatsby was such a dud.

The Animaniacs was how I first learned of Christopher Walken…
