Hey! I am an English teacher, too! I thought about taking on Ulysses this summer, Not worth it? I like Dubliners a lot, so I thought I would try to run the ultimate Joyce marathon.

Telling the age of black people
When I used to work retail, I would make the hours less dull by playing an age-guessing game as I checked the ID of patrons who paid with a credit card. I learned fast that I simply couldn't do it with non-whites. Maybe it's because I'm white. However I have another guess, too: as

You lie! Why do you tell lies!!!??!
What a delightfully dark satirical headline! There's one for your latest T-Shirt! Or maybe a coffee mug! So meta—and topical! Keep the zingers coming!

I think it's a clever deviation from Office's romance because in this case they already hooked up…five years ago. The fact that Leslie is depicted as unable to get over it, and that she's mentioned the affair passionately in each episode smartly undercuts the gag-me cutesiness of the Jim-Pam thread of the first three

Hey! I think he's talking about the AV Club.

*nothing.

I feel nothing? What's wrong with me?
I always worry about that happening.

"Do you need a sex tape? Because I have a pretty good one, it's in night vision, and you can just barely make out that his friend is robbing me."

I've been catching up on the old 30 Rock's via Netflix. Two season one Kenneth moments make me laugh out loud every time I think of them: him seducing Will Arnett with a seductive application of Chapstick , and his near-frightening, cross-eyed smile after Liz slaps across the face him for not giving up Tracey's

"You know him better than I do—is it possible that he is bowling?"

Did Ryan write both ep's tonight?

A series of questions for Amelie:
Do you ever have trouble rousing up enough hatred for your job? Do you ever wake up in the morning and feel unsettled by an absence of cynicism and contempt? Perchance, have you ever sat down to write about a zany, new reality show or Jay Leno being convicted of vehicular manslaughter

"Mom, why is that one muppet made of leather?"

I might have been interested to see Michael and Charles resolve their problems via "fluffy fingers."

1989
"When we started back in the very end of 1989 as a series, there was nothing else like the show on TV at the time…"

I notice
That the first song is being covered by Spartones from NC. What a delightful group of young men.

I just started watching it on Thursdays myself this season (as gratitude for Fey's Palin, I suppose), and have been catching the old ep's on Netflix in order to see what I missed. I'm enjoying everything from season one so far (I'm halfway through it).
It's interesting to note how Baldwin's character has developed

Colubine was a national tragedy.

From now on I only read Newswire items that begin "Holy Shit!" Sort of the equivalent of the red "Breaking News" banner on cnn.com

"It's not racist if I'm quoting your movie, right?"
