JUST WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT ONE. That got me hooked

Oh my, so many great shows on that schedule.

And I just verified: Milch actually had Ed O'Neill in mind first, then cast Boothe, then McShane.

I guess a thank you is in order to whatever that illness was

Something I found out when reading reviews-Powers Boothe was originally supposed to be Al Swearengen, I think he was the first choice and McShane was third. It all worked out perfectly at the end but interesting to think about what might have turned out

Early reviews of Unbroken haven't been great. I don't see it making any splash

I care more about the Coens and Roger Deakins involvement than Jolie

Buzz for Unbroken and Foxcatcher has died down a lot recently. Miller, Jolie, Carell were all early favorites for nominations but now, maybe not.

I guess Linklater, Inarittu, Tyldum, DuVernay, and one of (Chandor, Leigh, Miller, Jolie). Sadly there's no way PTA will be nominated.

Prediction: this will be a year where best director and best picture aren't for the same movie. There will be huge pressure to give boyhood a big award and I have no problem with that—I think Linklater has a good chance, even if he's never been nominated before.

If I remember correctly the Garrets are the only ones made up by Milch at this point.

When I watched this I didn't even recognize Nick Offerman as Tom until I read he was in Deadwood.

season two is perfect tv. I am blown away every time I watch it.

I'm not saying FX>HBO (right now maybe it is), but I'm saying The Shield is just really really good. Matter of opinions is all.

That's a great list! but reducing the shows you don't like to "mutilated corpses, crime, degradation and moral decay" isn't doing those shows justice

Yeah those are good points. I just think that The Shield at its best was so so good that I can't help but put it in the top 5. Seasons 5 and 7, two of the greatest seasons of tv ever. And also it was just impressive how it improved as it went along.

Okay…so can I have some examples of what you think are good shows?

I don't want to live vicariously through assholes as much as I want to watch good tv. And those shows are good tv.

Those 3 episodes must have been the greatest episodes of tv you ever saw.

1. Deadwood
2. The Wire
3. The Shield
4. The Sopranos
5. Breaking Bad
6. Twin Peaks
7. Mad Men
8. Lost
