I have to agree. In general, one of the best parts of any Stephen King book is his use of music to throw an extra bit of creepiness into the mix.

I agree…definitely not your daughter's teen-love-story-made-cooler-by-cute-boy-vampires story. I agree Salem's Lot is "look over your shoulder" scary…I was just talking about that the other day, interestingly. I'm usually not that scared by books, especially Stephen King (sorry), but Salem's Lot scared me.
