Well, that's one opinion. I really disliked that movie. I feel like the series is a sequel to Indiana Jones, but one of those sequels like Legally Blonde 2 where the producers didn't quite understand why the first one was a success and end up doubling down on all the wrong things. (The same could be said for some of

I haven't seen a DC movie since Dark Knight trilogy, but this sounds okay.

I think a lot of the WW2 movies from yesteryear are the clear-cut good vs evil type. But in the past couple decades, there has been a change in perspective. It's not just that our boys were fighting evil, it's that they volunteered to fight evil because their moral fiber was of a higher quality than today's spoiled

My quota for WW2 and Vietnam movies was exceeded many years ago. I'd like to see some good WW1 movies. Or maybe some good French & Indian War movies.

The first scientific warnings for ozone depletion were issued in the late 70s. Less-developed nations have until 2030 to phase out CFCs and HCFCs. That's at least 50 years to replace some destructive chemicals with some other chemicals. An industrial behavior seems like it has been transformed into another industrial

I watched a couple segments from the program this morning (although not the Dean interview). Something about the writing has changed this season. I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but my initial reaction is that I don't like it.

I'm trying to picture in my head what Pauly Shore looks like, but all I can see is Big Head from Silicon Valley.

I like the non-shuffle threads.

The Road Taken by Henry Petroski. A fun non-fiction book about the challenges of infrastructure development and maintenance.

I went and bought a whole bunch of new records on Monday. I've heard them all, just adding them to my "sounds good on the home stereo" collection.
Metallica - Kill 'em All
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Suicidal Tendencies - s/t (bright pink vinyl!)
Smashing Pumpkins - Gish
Sonic Youth - Goo

I was thinking about this the other day. Even if Al Gore were president, pretty much anything Americans are willing to do in response to climate change will end up being too little, too late. The idea that we're all going to start driving less and making less plastic and burning less coal is pretty much bonkers.

No Amazon reviews yet? Scandalous!

On Saturday, I made chicken soup with rice. The recipe is basically the same as my chicken noodle soup, except with rice instead of noodles, and I used shredded chicken instead of diced. The rice absorbs the broth really well, so the leftovers are almost better than the original.

War is coming, stones no longer safe.

Dude: you're getting Adele.

I'll probably buy 5-10 albums during the month, but none from this list. I'm not really into new music, but I've been going back and getting some old favorites on vinyl, for the home listening experience.

I could have gone my whole life without knowing what Glenn Danzig thinks about Planned Parenthood. But now, thanks to network communications, I don't have to! Great job, internet!

When keeping it real goes wrong…

In a really dark and awful way, it's best that all the good ones are dying off young. Just imagine the ridiculous elderly/conservative things Stevie Ray Vaughn or James Dean could be saying if they were alive today. One Clint Eastwood is enough!

Finishing up the 6th/penultimate season of True Blood. Was it well-noted by critics during the original run that Jessica was only 17 when she became a vampire, and that her sexuality is therefore theoretically creepy?
