Agreed. I've read and re-read the below sentence, and still can't make sense of it.

I know I should probably comment on domestic abuse, etc., but I actually want to piggy back on Annie's comment on how boring Surfer Blood is. I saw them open for Art Brut, and they were terrible. What a shitty, shitty band.

"The one that saw Joe Strummer firing everyone and essentially going solo under the Clash moniker"

"Did any of you see a guy with glasses wth a real sneery expression on his face? This guy was ugly. I mean, like, real ugly."

There's a variety on Your Arsenal that is missing from Years Of Refusal. "Seasick, Yet Still Docked" and "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday" are two of my favorite Morrissey tracks. I don't think the new band is capable of writing anything so subtle.

I guess I don't like his current backing band (minus Boz, of course). They lack any nuance in their playing, so it feels like the new songs are all riff-crazy glam rock knock-offs…but more boring.

I'm a huge Morrissey fan, but to say that he is still producing the best music of his solo career as he gets older is a bit much. The turgid slop on Years Of Refusal can't hold a candle to anything on Vauxhall, Arsenal or Viva Hate.

I've always been a bit more partial to "Pod." Their cover of "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" is great.

Hoskins was originally supposed to play Al Capone in "The Untouchables," until De Palma cast De Niro instead. De Niro is great in that movie, but it's hard not to wonder what Hoskins would've done with that role.

His scenes with Helen Mirren in "Last Orders" are so incredibly tender, it's a testament to his skill that he was also able to play a badass in other films so convincingly.

Way, way, way underrated. "Long Good Friday" is fantastic, but his more recent work is just as good. "Twenty Four Seven" and "Last Orders" couldn't be more different, but he's equally awesome in both. Such a shame.

Thank you! Smother is one of the best things I've heard in the last five years, let alone this year, so I can't believe it didn't make the list. Britney Spears? Really, AV Club?

I think Art is there because Winona confessed to him that she stole the money out of the evidence cage. She traded that info for Art's assurance that he would go after Raylan.

Agreed, Dawgriguez. I also yelled at the TV, I think when Ted said something like, "Sorry my search for true love has ruined your perfect photo." (I'm paraphrasing his annoyingly-whiny quote).

140 Minutes?
Seriously?

@ Mr. Belvedere

"Dan In Real Life" may be a horrible movie, but the soundtrack is really good. And I'm not sure that "Heartbeat Radio" is an attempt to win back the trust of "discerning" music fans like Chris Mincher. Like you've said, the guy has already released a jazz record. I'm sure he could care less.
