+1 to Thee Oh Sees.

Because it's not any good and only the hip hop blogs are willing to admit that?

I would dare say they don't pay enough attention to the music scene. Lots of great stuff this year, very little of it on this list.

Swing and a miss

That one was probably a tough one to get onboard with due to the large number of guests. The show tends to fare a bit better when it's just one or two people. Check out maybe 97, 119, or 131. And yeah, a lot of it at the beginning is going to depend on how much you understand a particular comedian's style since they

Any episode with Eric the Unpaid Intern is also great, though I'm not sure they list him in the cast.

Admittedly, I don't like it much when they start the scene at the same place as the story. improv4humans usually takes great care to heighten the scene enough so that the jokes from the story aren't used, or if they are, they're twisted into some sort of absurd masterpiece (see the Tom Petty's beard episode for an

It is unfocused and rambling, but that's really a large part of the charm. The game is usually Scott Aukerman (the host) pushing to see how far his guests will go without breaking character, and it can lead to some pretty hilarious moments if you have the patience. I recommend starting with any Andy Daly episode

My favorite of the year might be The Bone Zone. It's an incredibly uneven show, and there are some episodes I might never laugh, but when the high points come they tend to be pretty amazing. This year they did great work with prank phone calls, with highlights including convincing a phone sex operator that they had a

They should all have to gain a ton of weight for the role.

Congratulations!

So why is Nathan For You not listed in the best TV show of the year category?

This is the visual equivalent of that obnoxious youtube band Pomplamoose.

Well, the question is "What is your favorite guitar solo?" If you ask that question to a bunch of mid western, white, pasty nerds, these are the sorts of responses you're going to get. The question is directly asking about their personal preferences, and not what they think is the best solo ever performed.

What would be the point of listing the classics again and again? There's plenty of awesome material out there that's a little lesser known, and lists like this are there to help you discover them. Do you get as annoyed by the "Watch This" and "Hear This" columns?

"Pick Me Up" is also a pretty awesome choice for later era Dino Jr.

Yo La Tengo's cover of "Little Honda" has a great one-note solo.

Exactly what I said. Glad to hear there's another person who loves that solo as much as me.

Yo La Tengo has some pretty incredible guitar solos on every album, but I think my absolute favorite has to be on the song "Pablo and Andrea" from Electr-o-pura. I was actually disappointed last time I saw them because Ira didn't do the solo exactly the same, which I normally wouldn't mind at all.

I sure hope Sandler brings back his classic Lunch Lady character. Now there was some podiatry!
