I read a very interesting analysis a few weeks ago about how weird it is to spend time with characters when everyone knows that they aren't the Big Heroes. Both Rebels, Rogue One, and a lot of the recent comic book and novel stuff makes a big point of being self aware about the real impact of these little battles on

Once again, art ruins everything. Thanks for having a consistent style, Sabine, now the galaxy is in danger.

Non-violent movements definitely tend to be glorified, especially today, but a good course of civil disobedience is undeniably effective. The Salt March and other largely symbolic movements raised more awareness for the independence movement than anything else, and as you said, it's a lot harder for people to justify

It's kind of exciting to see how quickly humans adapt to the unthinkable, and very terrifying to see how quickly humans adapt to the unthinkable. Lots of sage nods and resigned, "well, it's not that bad". Every time I try to bring it up with grown-ups (or, old people, at least) they end up trying to explain how Mike

The casting had gotten a lot more diverse over the years, but they sort of dropped the ball this time. Some commentators are saying it's "symbolic", but I'm not so sure. Guess when you're that successful you get sloppy.

Hey, remember the decapitations back in Season 1? The only thing they're not allowed to show us is a corpse, apparently.

Some people are destined to live their life as a series of increasingly cartoonish pratfalls, but this poor guy really takes the cake. Son of a dictator, fell out of favor for failing to get into Disneyworld, lived a decadent life but chaotic life in exile, multiple wives and mistresses, got killed by a woman trying

This episode was wonderful, but the thing that really struck me was the snow animation. Did you see that stuff? There was this wonderful little pause before it gave underneath the character's feet, and it was delightfully… snow-y. Good work, animators! I also adored the background designs. That art of Sabine's mom in

He had serious issues, yes, and I singled out his treatment of his wife because it's one of those things that's personal and small scale enough to be unforgivable. (Seriously, he was not nice to her.) Everyone says dumb stuff about big conflicts and has prejudice to unlearn, everyone is a hypocrite, but insulting and

Show of hands, who else was seriously contemplating the chances of Dr. Maheshwaren having been kidnapped by Blue Diamond? I saw the preview and I was still hoping for some exciting plot action.

Samantha Bee is very funny, in a self-congratulatory "you're so enlightened, pat yourself on the back you liberal paragon" kind of way but unfortunately I can no longer watch or listen to any news about politics. It's got to be written or my brain just freaks out. Preferably it should be written in a vaguely stunned

Sometimes, when the wind is right and the stars align (and I'm at my grandparents' house and they get tired of us), Hallmark channel will come and brighten my day with a targeted dose of super-mockable Bad Television glory.

Fox News: "Is there enough God in our schools? Let's debate this non-question for multiple hours."
Fox Network: "Eyyy, the devil is a cop and he does cocaine. You'll love him."

Lapis with her hair definition back (if only for a while) and showing off her power, is amazing. I'm a Pearl girl for life, with a side love for Bismuth, but Lapis has a certain flair.

Online, my man. What do you think we are, legislators? No one has time for a real fax machine.

There are also ways to fax your representatives for free, if you don't like calling. Letters are good as well, but it's a little harder for those to stay ahead of the current day-to-day insanity. Basically you need to make friends (or enemies) with every single person in your immediate government- senators, reps,

Much like Jasper and Bismuth they fall clearly in the realm of Things Steven and His Small Immediate Family Can't Deal With Right Now, but given how Pearl talked about Rose Quartz's eventual plans to liberate it… I imagine it'll be high up on the to-do list as soon as Steven inevitably figures out how to decorrupt

Quartzes are loyal… just apparently they're more loyal to each other than to their superiors.

"That has to be, like, the third craziest weekend I've ever had!" Greg, what have you done? Greg DeMayo Universe, intergalactic man of mystery and intrigue.

I'm pretty sure I saw some older people. Not super old, but in their fifties at least. Grey hair, wrinkles. Same thing with kids. I only saw one shorter person, probably closer to Steven's age than anything, but still some age diversity. It's a little less creepy on rewatches when you can get those little details.
