I think it'll be a great game to play through again (or even more rare, a game you wouldn't mind watching someone else play) simply because there are different ways through it. Another commenter called it "GTA Hyrule", and that's pretty close to the truth.
The freedom to approach any situation from a different point

Goddamn right it is. Top 5 list, easily.

Oh, Skull Island is the better of the two. But I do think Godzilla got things off to a mostly good start and proved that skyscraper sized monsters can still sell tickets and put asses in seats.
If they can follow through with what I suspect the next movie is gonna be from the post credits scene, it should be pretty

Leave out the Golden Girls, add in a lot of listening to the Grateful Dead, and that's my weekend almost exactly. Worked for me. Three of my favorite things (giant monster flicks, Nintendo games, and the Dead) all combined for one pretty cool weekend.

Nice on the GD, I forgot you were one of the few fans around here. Which shows did you get if you don't me asking?
I spent the weekend with an old friend that I went to a lot of shows with (we're going to see Dark Star Orchestra next month), so I'm in a real GD frame of mind!

Classic Carlin!

It's worth seeing. I didn't care for the darkness of the fight scenes, but in a darkened theater or on a big screen (nighttime, lights off) TV, it's tolerable. I imagine the budget had something to do with that, and hopefully the sequels or MonsterVerse or whatever they're calling it will be budgeted to address that.

I'd probably put it a 1/2 star ahead of you, but that's about right.
As to the last scene, it was a little underwhelming on its own, yes. But I've been suggesting to people to pay close attention to the last few lines of the credits. They spell out what you're going to see next. Without that, I'd probably have

I'd seen that line sooo many times in the comment sections before finally seeing AD. It's a really funny scene from a very funny show that, along with Community, I probably would have missed out on if not for this site.

Along with "stay for the end credits", i'd also add "read the last few lines that scroll up" on the end credits because they spell out exactly for you what you're looking at in that final clip.

I would have been six when it came out. I had a giant Colorforms (remember those?) set of the movie where you could do a scene in front of the giant gate on the island, and then you could open the gates, and the scene underneath was the tops of the Twin Towers. Pretty freakin' cool to six year old me.

Totally agree. And for such an fx extravaganza, it was really nice to see that. Baseball, hot dog, and a beer :)

Yeah, it didn't need an "extended" cut, just a total re-cut of the movie.
Leave in the giant pirahna in the swamp scene, cut opening part on the boat by about 45 minutes, leave out the horrible brontosaurus stampede, and voila….
As for Jack Black's casting, I can only assume Jackson was going for a "young Orson

"Here's 500 million to make that movie, and I want an NC17 rating. Get in touch with J. Lo's people and make it happen."

On that after credits scene, "we got us a stew goin'!"

I really liked "Midnight Special". Very low key but effective with some really great performances from the leads.

Went to see "Skull Island" last night, and enjoyed the hell out of it. John Reilly, Sam Jackson, and the monsters are great, the rest of the cast is kinda "meh", but for a giant monster movie, it was really good and did what it set out to do. Having the monster scenes set in daylight (mostly), as opposed to

"Druuuuuugs Iiiiiiiiin Spaaaaaaaaaaace!!!"

Then that's one you can scratch off the list of possible killers. You're lucky.

"No problem! We'll be here as long as there are humans on the planet!"
