I think it's pretty clear that Ralph is all talk and would never actually hit Alice. "Bang, zoom to the moon" doesn't strike me as a frightening piece of psychological abuse, and if you think it is you have much less sand than Alice Kramden, who did not give one single shit.

Yeah, I've read that assessment and I don't buy it. As I recall they performed it really slow, wrongly expecting some of the lines to get laughs. I think they expected "pining for the fjords" to get a laugh, instead I think the audience just didn't understand what he said (somewhat understandably).
