Yes, I LOVE how invested Riker is that Data might get some. And he gave that warm but slightly smarmy grin when he says "more than simple friendship." He should've added "Ahhhh yeaahhhh." Also "If you're not gonna hit it, I will."
I mostly agree with your grades
I recently watched both of these. "The Mind's Eye" for some reason I didn't remember as being great, but watching it the other day, I couldn't really find fault with it. The ending was great - it is nice to see some aftermath. I mean, Geordie got brainwashed; seeing him trying to…
The Ghost of Tom Riddle! I'm now from Philly too (just moved to the area). Let's get a beer and talk Trek.
This is a cellular peptide cake.
O RLY?
I agree. Welcome, Meredith!
I like the cut of your jib, Steffs. That just made a non-memorable episode that much better.
I remembered hating The Outcast. And I didn't remember at all the ending of The Host; must not have been particularly memorable. Do they explain why Riker and Crusher didn't have any hots for each other after they took the slug out of Riker?
Neat! I didn't catch that.
Obligatory off-topic DS9 thread
Sorry, but I wanted to post this in our discussion as a general Star Trek comment; and at least I'm not mentioning leftover holodeck sperm!
Bad and good
Qpid is pretty bad in my opinion. Some funny lines, sure, but it sort of takes Q as bit too far into silly territory. I'd give this episode a C+, really.
Broadcast is very good. Their earlier stuff is good if you like the Stereolab/My Bloody Valentine type of stuff; their later stuff is good for amazing atmospheres and textures and some good neo-psych style goodness.
Gutted
Just terrible, terrible news. Broadcast - though obscure - were consistently amazing, and Trish was always such a vibrant and creative performer. This is incredibly sad.
Was "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" from the 80s or 90s? I remembered enjoying that one when I was little.
*the reveal that DAN died
That's an interesting read on it, Bender, and in theory that sounds great, but I would argue the show didn't pull it off. And then it completely shit its pants with that last episode, where they (SPOILERS) reveal it never actually happened, and that Dan had died, etc. I was still pretty young when that episode…
I think Harry Anderson left New Orleans a few years back. You will still maybe run into Harry Shearer if you loiter around a lot though.
My Dad really seemed to enjoy Coach; it was his kind of people I think (he's a big football fan). I would see it occasionally; I enjoyed Jerry Van Dyke a lot, but didn't think the show was very good.
When I said the Garry Shandling Show I mean The Larry Sanders Show. I remembered really enjoying that ending a lot, even being not really a fan of that show.
