Back to the temple
Having Hurley and Jack away from the temple is obviously important. But Kate, Jin, Sun (all possible candidates) are all going back to the temple, as well as others. So why make damn sure Jack and Hurley aren't there? And is it both Jack and Hurley that can't be there, or just Jack, and Hurley

A-
Totally agree with the rating. I will admit falling into the thing of being disappointed with the episode immediately, and I'm pretty sure it was that I was expecting some huge reveals. It was a Jack episode, written by Cuse/Lindelof, and those things usually mean a significant episode. (I was really expecting a

108
So the 108 on the dial was some guy called "Wallace." So…is this perhaps a new player, a last name for a character we already know (a previous last name? We don't know anything about Desmond's history pre the boat race), or it is not important at all. It seemed the whole thing was 1) to get Jack and Hurley away

I less-than-three this thread.

I agree, TNG did episodes maybe similar in premise, but they probably did it a bit better.

TNG…I think Riker makes a pretty good rapey look at the chicks from time to time, though often they return his affection. But man, there are times Riker looks completely creepy.

You gotta listen to something when you're eating colored squares.

It'll obviously vary person to person, but for me it is probably a combination of things. First it is because when I was little, starting probably when I was like 5, my dad would tape the re-runs, which came on at 11:00pm, and I'd watch them the next day. My dad liked the show, but wasn't really a *fan* fan, and he

I'd probably venture to say that some people are "made" or more disposed to commitment and monogamy and some people aren't. The problem arises when someone who is non-monogamous or unable to truly commit enters a relationship with someone who expects that commitment and is disposed to commitment. Granted, that might

Living forever
I'm torn on the "do you want to live forever?" question you pose, Zack. On one hand I feel some serious existential anxiety thinking about my own non-existence and how I can't imagine not existing (and, of course, thoughts of death are made worse by the uncertainty regarding how I might die - will it

Checkov
isn't really all that rapey in this one. Strange that in the end he basically rebuffs his old girlfriend. I guess there's no point in being rapey if she's interested.

Hey, man, why do you wear all those clothes? How do you breathe?
I actually enjoyed Eden better than Requiem. I actually strongly dislike Requiem. It pissed me off as a kid and rewatching it earlier in the week, it still pisses me off for some reason. But Eden is a hell of a lot of fun. And I must admit the ending

Kate
There's obviously a reason Kate's name isn't on the wall. Obviously she isn't assigned to one of The Numbers, but unless her name is there assigned to another number but we've just not been shown it, I'm going to assume she isn't at all a candidate. So why would she be at all important?

Peep Show FTW

Thanks, Lone.

John Locke, ultimate tragic character
Locke must be one of the most tragic goddamn characters in fiction ever. It's amazing to think of how he was used, and also how fucking intricate Smokey's plan was. I mean, make sure Locke thinks he's special by having him somehow flash to the 50s to tell Richard he would be

Also, Jacob touched Kate in his flashback, but she wasn't a candidate. At least her name wasn't seen on the wall (and even if she was there as another number, we weren't shown and she isn't one of THE numbers). I wonder the significance of that. She flashed in time and she was touched by Jacob. We were shown Jacob

I don't know if I buy that Christian is/was Jacob. Even with him being in the cabin, when Ilana and her team got there, they made mention that "someone else has been using it for a long time." Also, Christian took Claire from Aaron in the jungle and into the cabin, and we've since found out that Claire was "claimed."

@the pen is mightier than the fan theory:

I'm pretty sure I remember Sawyer telling Jack in 1977 that his parents died the year before, which would make that 1976, the year before the bomb went off.
