Wasn't it Woody Allen who said "Sex is like pizza, even when it's bad it's good"? I tend to agree. I don't think I've ever had bad pizza (though does the shit in the grocer's freezer count? I hope not because that's usually not too good)

I'll have to re-watch it. I haven't seen it in ten years at least. I seem to remember the acting was silly, and also watching it as a 12 year old, I seem to remember thinking the whole thing about women not being able to rise to command seemed out of place in the utopian 23rd century setting (though certainly that

DCRJ, I guess it is a distinctive enough way to die. There's another way to die where you get zapped, and another where this gigantic fuck lizard thing kills you. All very fun stuff. I always liked the idea that in the story you were an ensign and could interact with Kirk and Spock etc. in spots. But I always

I do believe it should be Captain Planet.

I posed above but having worked in a crisis unit, we'd see stuff like this. The word stab seems worse than it is, obviously with him being discharged so soon. People who do this have what are called hesitation wounds which are very superficial; there is still pain when stabbing as well as perhaps that bit of him

I believe many of the wounds were "hesitation" wounds, which isn't uncommon at all in these cases. Taking a bottle of pills is one thing; even if you want to die, having to stab yourself still really hurts so I assume many of these stabs are very superficial. It may sound worse than it is - especially if he's been

Yeah, that's a good line. I really think that I learned some of my vocabulary from Star Trek, specifically from listening to it. There are a few lines in "Dove" that I've always enjoyed.

Richelieu, I have the same experience with the rest of Season 3 after this set of episodes. I'd never seen the second half of this season as a child. I don't remember why, but I assume they just didn't get played since my Dad had every other one on tape for me. So even if Season 3 sucks for the most part, I have a

Yeah, I sat up all night reading the thing. It's so much fun to choose the wrong thing and then go back and do it over. Ah, if only life were like that.

Shatner rap
My favorite part of "Day of the Dove" as a child was Shatner's little rhyme at the end with the Klingons. I always found it kind of hilarious and a bit awkward. Why does he decide to bust into rhyme? I had it memorized when I was little and once when I was a teenager put it to a cheesy hip-hop beat.

When I visited my parents for Christmas I stayed in the guest room where all of my old crap was stored and I found my "A Piece of the Action" photonovel. I used to have "Dave of the Dove" as well. I used to love those things.

Similar to how I don't know anyone who admits to buying/listening to albums by certain artists but some of those motherfuckers are buying those albums.

I was only familiar with this guy through his Comedy Central roast appearances and what I've read in the news (which of course is never flattering). This was a good interview; I will have to give this guy a chance. Any of you fans recommend a good place to start? A particular comedy special or album?

I feel that way about Mamet films; no one talks that way.

You're under 50, I'm guessing. As far as I know, this counts actual "album" sales; only older folks I assume still buy actual CDs these days.

I could agree that perhaps a majority of them are mediocre (though I'm a big fan of camp sometimes so I'm not always the best judge) but I think the first three Bond films are far from mediocre. FRWL and Goldfinger are definitely better than most action movies.

You're quite the fan. Thanks for the tips. I have the DVDs. I've rewatched seasons 1 - 3 but not beyond that. Since I don't have cable and only watch TV on DVD, I may give it a shot, at least through the more important episodes.

One of these will end up on 2010's "worst band names of the year" list

Or just having him gagged and tied to a giant pillar.
