You'd be surprised actually.

Reading this right now, loved Gone-Away World. He can be a bit frustrating with the flash backs though, takes a lot of momentum out of the story at times.
As every other review has pointed out, Nick Harkaway is the son of John le Carre. I find it refreshing Wernecke didn't mention it.
It can be funny, but really not comedic. Liberation is kinda like a take on Seven- Samurai and Acid Westerns.
Easy mistake, they do both have a western vibe. I thought Liberation was better, I can't really remember much of Julian Comstock.
As far as post-oil fiction, i feel like you really can't beat The Wind-Up Girl* as a more realistic view, bio-tech filling the void to a degree n' all.
I'm a huge fan of Bacigalupi, probably my favorite living writer. All his stuff is pretty sharp, if you like Stephenson's Diamond Age i'd recommend it. Different path to the futures and all.
I am disappointed that this isn't about a weight lifting snowman.
Taylor was great in Red, White and Blue. A very strange movie. But I liked it.
@avclub-b85d65c39e12a5515c19fd72b6f48199:disqus At least Gladiator had Ollie Reed. That automatically lifts it above Crash in my eyes.
He's gonna be in Rust & Bone? Audiard is great, psyched to see this. and that.
Directed by Twohy and co-writering credit for Aronofsky. Gonna have to watch that agian. I don't even remember Greenwood in that. Though I do remember Jason Flemying and thinking he looked like the brother to the engineer in Das Boot.
So anybody want to join my gnostic jazz fusion dylan cover band?
Actually it isn't the first. Ingagi (1931) was the first.
Reamde was ok. Probably my least favorite of Stephenson. SPOILER! (sorta) I like big ideas better than overly complex reasons to get *supersmart* islamic militants into the continental US. I really didn't find it believable and lacked the historical perspective of Cryptonomicon.
I was really tempted to skip most of the olivia bits, they are really dull compared to everyone else.
Got to agree. Of all the sci-fi people seem to be going on about i feel like they may have forgotten about Embassytown. Thought it was much better than any other new sci-fi i read this year. Except the last 10pgs of Robert Charles Wilson's Vortex, which almost made up for the slog of a novel they were in.
I thought he was gonna punch David Boreanaz in the teeth when I saw him interviewed. Craig just had this look on his face like "Oh, I've known fuckers like you…"
I can't watch your link, but I'm really hoping its something off Sex Bomb Baby! or Generic.
or Winterbottom's Wonderland [she's a, er pregnant and married to john simm, all set to a lovely Nyman score]?
Was that a Karen O impression? Chick sings on her R's so much I thought she was trying to imitate a drill.
Like urban white trash, but kind of gangstery, and a little too enamored with eyebrows and clippers.
