Necessary? No. Amusing? Yes.

Party Down is great. The pilot may have been weak comedy wise but the show is more grounded than 30 Rock and Office (American) so that even when the jokes miss, it's still worth watching.

I don't know if it's just due to the new site layout but I really like the larger cover art thumbnails accompanying each review.

Does the framing device come from past incarnations of House of Mystery? The notion of paying for beer with stories appeals to me. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that the mini stories could be more relevant to the larger arc. Sort of like how Tales of the Black Freighter tied in with Watchmen.

It seems most Kubrick films take a long time to build up wide appreciation. Hopefully EWS will eventually get its due. I don't know if the timing was right or what but one of the times I watched it I couldn't help but empathize with the jealousy raging in Cruise's character. The way I view the film is a mad decent…
