Yes, Empire of the Sun is pretty excellent from beginning to end. I can't think of a miss moment in the entire (2 and a half hour) film.

Mysterious Skin is one of the better child molestation and gay rape movies I've seen recently. Levitt was pretty good in it.

That Still Is Awesome

The io9 blog has been pimping Middleman like nothing else. So, when I finally checked it out, I was completely underwhelmed. It has its charms I suppose but I guess it's just not my thing.

I have no inside knowledge about how any of this works but I'm guessing the publicist/promoter's main concerns when granting or soliciting interviews is the readership size and demographics. I'm guessing they never pay attention to a publication's previous reviews unless they're notoriously harsh, which the AV Club

I think the argument against Dawn of the Dead being camp is how the relationship between Stephen, Peter and Francine is handled. Yes, a lot of the film is knowing (the gore bits) and satire (especially of consumerism) but the relationships that ground the movie (Peter and Fran in particular) are handled with a good
