Don't you feel that 10s music is sort of "obsessed with legacy" because we haven't worked out what's going to come next after buoyant empty pop? I have this sense that we're still working out where to go next, and expressing that musically.
But I agree, The Next Day is definitely a legacy album.

I often feel that David Bowie has returned for every new change in music after Let's Dance but never stayed. Say, with Earthling, he experimented with Drum and Bass and disappeared, but then came back with Hours, Heathen and Reality, each of which explored a different aspect of 90s/00s musical style. The Next Day is

Steve Earle looks like he lives in a bin made of pubic hair, and always has. Taylor Swift looks like she just got back from the future in her gold-plated chinook helicopter full of albino tiger cubs.
I have made my point clear.

If you rephrase that as, "she's good at having something on her face" you'll find it's a lot less impressive than you think.

Actually it's a cello disguised to look like a guitar shaped like a banjo, because Taylor Swift is actually Yo-Yo Ma in a wig.

Things were better in the old days, right?

I just did this. It sounds like the brand-name at the end of the commercial.

He should hear "Mean".
"Someday I'll be living in a big old city,
And all you're ever going to be is mean."

Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) shows up and hosts an impromptu cookery lesson where he teaches Dexter how to make a haggis.

You're not Jerry Bruckheimer, are you?

"Watching it feels like eating a warm bowl of soup".
Always a good sign for a show based on a serial killer…

"Sah, I may only be a lowly butler, but in my humble opinion you should definitely bug the Democrat office at that new hotel complex over the river."
"Harrumph!"

or…. "Terms of Enrampagement"
or…."Casablumpkin"

"House gave me the courage to quit….appearing in good shows."

Kid, if you're smart, and you have a good agent, we might be able to get that quote on the DVD case.

An unguarded opinion! I'm going to wear it like a hat.

When did we decide that Plato was a smart dude? He was kind of a div.

Every decade gets a Wild Wild West….this was ours.

Can all the middling animated shows just morph into one half-hour weekly segment, so I can get back to putting eggs back inside chickens? Kthxbai
