I think all anyone needs to know is that this movie features the guy from Everclear singing a full-length acoustic version of "Father Of Mine".

So, I'm a HUGE fan of Slate's audio book club, esp. the older ones with Stephen Metcalf  and/or Katie Roiphie as panelists, even though both of them drive me up the wall. I just like the very indepth and complex looks they all take to the works in question. I know it's well out of the jurisdiction of the AVClub, but I

The episode is truly scary, but the weeping angels' "scary" faces are a bit goofy.

I once watched The Entity thinking for some reason that a movie about a woman being raped by ghost would be HILARIOUS. Far from it. It was one of the scariest fucking movies I've ever seen. Rape scenes are harrowing enough, but the fact that the rapists are invisible is somehow even worse. And the ending! Chills.
I've

That's the saddest thing I have read all day.

I love Kate Beaton, but I also hate her because I TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT FIRST.

Inspite of the fact that I was a girl who neither played nor regularly followed any team sport, ever, I loved any and all sports movies. Of all of the one I saw and loved as a kid, the one I (and most people my age) remember most fondly is the Sandlot and it's also the only one I've rewatched in recent memory*. Now

I went to see Dancer in the Dark with my mother as a nice mother-daughter outing. She left the theater halfway through and literally threw up from the handicam. I met her in the lobby afterwards crying hysterically and continued to do so all the way to dinner. It was not the bonding experience we expected.

For some reason I briefly had myself convinced Lady Antebellum was a southern rapper. I think I just wanted it to be so.

See, I found that segement fascinating just because it was so incredibly awkward. It was totally cringe-inducing to hear them praise him when they so clearly thought his piece was shitty and wrong. Somehow it made for great, terrible listening.

Glad to see it on here as well. The Ewok epsiode was my favorite so far, having seen that movie a billion times as a kid. I was listening to that one on the subway and laughed embarassingly loud.

(Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For? never fails to get to me.

Where Not To Start: Nocturana. Yikes.

I would suggest the John Peel Sessions for the Birthday Party, myself. Most of all because it has their cover of the Stooges' "Loose", which is probably my favorite thing of all time.

I started with the Murder Ballads, but that was as a sullen, morbid teen, so it was the perfect intro for only that time and place in my life. Now I would probably think it was cheeseball if I hadn't heard any of his other work.

Their health is none of your business.

Memo to Messrs. Maron & Rabin: "Comic" does not automatically mean "straight, male comic".

Nothing like a casual child-rape joke for your review of a cartoon!

I HAVE MY WAYS.

YEAH RIGHT.
Flagging sexist comments around here? The boards will be empty and you'll have to fire NATHAN RABIN.
