So Much More Amazing Drunk

If You Like What We Do With Our Mouths…

GUYS.

On Writing is fucking brilliant. Say anything you want about the man but if you ever want to write anything ever anywhere (YES, you stupid punks, even comments on internet forums — this shit's important) you owe it to yourself to read it.

Fuck the Salem's Lot novel. The short story in Night Crew, while cribbing almost wholesale from Lovecraft's "Rats in the Walls", is way, way better (although it's technically "Jerusalem's Lot" and not just "Salem's Lot").

A quote my creative writing teacher in high school made (so the vitriol is his, not mine):

genre spin-offs
I had a few, but then I realized they sounded like Onion headlines ("Lost Treasure Is Found", "Everyone But Female Lead Dies", "Their Friendship Persists", etc.)

I should read before I talk! that vote is just for who you would like to have sex with, forever, alone on an island.

Votin's still goin', slim! http://www.bravotv.com/top-… — Wylie is kicking his ass, which is reasonable given that he's pretty talented in his own right, but Graham's in second.

Graham Elliot
is a weird, weird guy. case in p0int: http://bit.ly/4nltS (warning: filled with lies). He's cool as hell, though, and really talented. as far as the menu at his restaurant, compared to some other places around Chicago it's downright cheap.

That dog is going to flat-out choke a bitch when he finds out it's not really bacon.

Ketchup is a sub-par french fry condiment. Baconnaise — er, no wait, hold on, no, no, that's awful — barbecue sauce is superior.

Read closely!
No joke, I just read "Her car careens down a ravine, then explodes. " as "Her career careens down a ravine, then explodes."

Misrememberization. Wow. I'm going to have to write that one down.

James Marsters
Just a random aside, and not really all that relevant, but James Marsters is the narrator for the Dresden Files audiobooks. It's always weird to me to hear him without the Spike accent, though.

It is telling that, in my list of webcomics I read, her comic is not marked "Hark! A Vagrant!" (owing at least in part to the fact that I added the link before she had given the comic a name), but rather "Kate Muthafuckin' Beaton, Yeah". No other webcomic artist shares that distinction.

I don't know whether to be sad or overjoyed
that nobody has made a "Kevin Spacey? More like Kevin Space-y!" non-pun yet.

documentaries
I remember seeing the Moog documentary, and when he started talking about how no one had ever heard that synthesized sound before — that it was completely new to all of humanity, and it scared the shit out of classical musicians — I was kind of floored. Something about the way that part of the interview

so this is what happens…
Huh, I remember my brother mentioning how nervous hollywood execs were like half a year ago with the thought of a SAG strike, and AMPTP being a bunch of jerks, and how it was all gonna go to hell in a handbasket. So… 78% vote? I guess we can stop worrying and let Hollywood get back to churning
