I went to high school with a couple of the guys from Typhoon. I still listen to an album they made back in those days—good straight-ahead punk.
"Wasting Light" had some great, interesting ideas for a straight-ahead rock record, which overcame some of the poor lyrics. I've been listening to The Joy Formidable a lot recently, and they deserve some kudos too.
