I believe on tumblr it's pronounced "MURDER HUSBANDOS." I don't know why, but it delights me.
When Hannibal started touching Will's hand at the beginning of the episode I laughed aloud, because I was thinking about those comments. No homoeroticism. Ha!
I loved this episode, but I've got to admit the politics are a little screwed up. You can defend the clichéd "lesbian turns straight for the hero" thing by saying she was just sperm-jacking him (as was suggested in the preview), but that just turns the homophobia into sexism. You know all them bitches, tricking teh…
"Naka-Choko," or that episode where Hannibal gives his sausage to Will and Alana at the same time
No, no, Will Feral Animal. The question is "or when"!
When Orinoco Flow started up I lost my shit. It's a perfect Moone Boy moment: ridiculous, cringe-inducing, but also kind of sweet.
Easy fix: stalk one!
Well… I may have been thinking about his well-developed abs.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I looove me some Sun. But I wouldn't rate season 1 Sun higher than Locke, Sayid, or Sawyer on the "well-developed characters" list.
Oh, absolutely. Saying, "waah, it's hard" is no excuse. If you're a writer, learn to write people. It's your job. While you're at it, could you learn to write good chair characters? Because I want to see that movie now.
I figured :) Why would Alien Jesus care about human males' rights anyway?
I do think it is legitimately hard for some writers. If you see women as subhuman/objects, writing a realistic one can be tough. It's like trying to write dialogue for your chair. It's hard to do it without having all the lines be about how much it enjoys having you sit on its face.
(Additional comment that says, "If I misunderstood your comment and it was meant to be satire… whoops. Poe's Law, y'know?")
Yeah, 'cause when women try to get major movie deals for their projects about interesting women who talk to other women about things other than boyz, they get hundreds of millions thrown at them immediately. That's why there are so many female-directed Wonder Woman movies coming out this summer.
Seems like a good research project. I'd wager that most harem anime pass the test, if only because there's always an episode where all the female characters get together to gossip while sitting nude in a hot spring.
Where did Caroline call J.J. Abrams a sexist? Obviously we can't see into his heart and find its sexist or feminist core. But we can see his movies. Hollywood as a whole suffers from institutional sexism, and his recent and upcoming films might be contributing to the problem.
Yeah, I think the best way to get around this problem would be to simply include more female characters in movies and TV shows. When there's only one, yeah, she's going to be scrutinized like whoa. It will seem like she represents all women. But if you tell a story that includes a bunch of women with diverse…
I don't see how it cheapens the discussion. If there are a bazillion other reasonable grounds for discussing the sexism of J.J. Abrams films, why not cite the Bechdel Test failures as additional support for those bazillion other arguments? Just because some people use the test often, and just because it isn't good for…
