Don't be silly. You can like and watch a show and still criticize it. It's not one or the other. I'd argue that criticizing this sort of thing on the internet does fix things, because it seems showrunners have been paying more attention to issues of gender and race lately. So there's no need for sarcasm. Now let's get

Yes! I must admit I was getting a little irked when seeing Hannibal detractors on the AV Club bashing his performance as an example of overacting. These people must be lucky not to have ever seen or experienced a similar breakdown, because Dancy NAILED it.

Nah. Abigail certainly wasn't a voice of reason, nor is Freddie. Bev was often reasonable, but tonight her hubris was showing. Bedelia was reasonable, and Will listened to her. Alana's reasonable in theory, but in practice she trusts Hannibal too easily. This show is about lots of things, but I don't think gender is

Ehhhh I hope not. There are supposedly going to be two more huge deaths this season, and no one else in the cast is of Asian descent.

Love the mention of Shakespearean acting here. It's a nice reminder that art doesn't have to be completely naturalistic all the time to be good. It's also a reminder that the actors in this show are working at an extremely high level of difficulty, because they have to operate in such an idiosyncratic dramatic world

And while he's good at playing an upright citizen, he'd never be part of a brigade.

Note: Beverly died on the way back to her home planet.

Sure, but what I want to know is, in this case, is he acting the part of the capricious god or some kind of chessmaster god? Did he make all these decisions in the moment, or does he have a plan for Jack as he had one for Will last season? Put another way, is this His Design, or is he doing improv?

And Honey Bunny was in the same scene as Laurence Fishburne!

Yeah, you're all probably right. But the disappointment yet lingers. Beverly… come back…

Passing this along from Aaron Abrams on Twitter: "This episode starts a real stretch of crazy."

I'm wondering how much Hannibal planned ahead. He convinced Jack not to go to Italy with Bella, presumably because he likes having Jack around so he can fuck with his head. Then Bella wanted to off herself, and he pushed her into doing it. Why? Just because he wanted to see if she would follow through? Finally, he

Mad love?

The question is, why wouldn't you use a corpse for wine?

See below. I was disappointed to see Beverly fall victim to the "cop stupidly goes into serial killer's underground lair without calling for backup" trope. She's better than that. Otherwise, stellar.

Pretty much in agreement. This episode was fantastic in so many ways, but as brash as Beverly can be, she's not dumb. I could see her breaking in and taking the blood from the fridge, but going down into Hannibal's dungeon all by herself? Maybe if she hemmed and hawed a little longer before she went down to her doom

A-. Amazing stuff, but from this show I expect perfection. Perfection!

My emotions! My emotions!

Seriously. Guys, it's called a bag. You can put things inside and carry it around. It works! You can call it a Bag of Holding if it makes you feel better.

Trouble is, if you rule out Fight Club fans there will be no one left. The problems of being a heterosexual woman.
