What do you want me to say?  There's nothing about her philosophy in here.

I can't speak as to libertarians, but *every* Objectivist I know and read is vehemently in support of gay rights.  If you find an Objectivist that isn't, then I'd happily challenge is understanding of Objectivism because being against gay marriage and other things is totally out of line with Objectivism.

Life is full of inequalities, and you can't legislate those away.  You're welcome to your opinions on Objectivism, but it's a philosophy based on practical ideas for living life.  The idea behind it is that everyone is entitled to their own life, and that government's job is to protect that life.

Not totally accurate.  It says that it's moral for the individual to value his life, yes, even more than others.  That's wholly rational, and something we do all the time, and is necessary for living anywhere, including society.

Ugh.  Wholly inaccurate.

She was projecting her own feelings onto her female protagonists.

1) A dictator has no respect at all for the rights of individuals.  He discards other people without regard for them as people.  "Ah," you may say, "but that's Objectivism!"  Not true.  One of the most annoying things I hear about Objectivism is that we don't care about other people.  Yes, we're self-interested and

Yes, there is.

Those two consider themselves libertarian, not Objectivist.  Objectivists love abortions!

I'm going to preface every reply in this thread with the following: Yes, I am an Objectivist.  No, I don't go pushing it on others.  No, I didn't care for this movie.  Yes, I agree with a lot of what was said in the review.  Yes, I acknowledge that Rand, as a person, had many faults.  No, that doesn't mean that the

Please, look at the responses in this thread.  There is nothing she could have said that would have been acceptable to these type of detractors.  I don't like her at all, but that intro music was out of line.  (And if you don't think that the entertainment industry is well-biased toward the left, then you're

Your opinions are not fact.  I can't stand Bachmann, either, but my (and your) opinion of her doesn't mean that she should be insulted to her face when she's coming on your show as a guest.  I also can't stand Obama or Biden, but if my band played "Let the Idiot Speak" as their intro music, I'd rightfully be called

LEGO owns the domain legos.com, and for a little while, if you went there, before being redirected to lego.com, you were subjected to this awesomely passive-aggressive paragraph on how to use the word (LEGO, capitalized and singular) and why.

@avclub-5a1c0dcc8243c086c74ee944052f6f0f:disqus, you've mentioned one of my biggest pet peeves.  I hear all the time that LEGO bricks and sets today are all about specialized pieces and building the set and have no imagination.  And I can't say how many times I've heard a variant on, "Why can't I just buy a box of

My quick answer when people ask:  "LEGO should always be capitalized and never pluralized."  Good: LEGO bricks.  Bad: Lego bricks, LEGOs, Legos, Mega-Blocks
