Those are good points, but when I saw it, I figured that Hugo didn't want to pick at the scab that is Ana Lucia's glorious time on the island.

I'm embarassed to admit that, while I really enjoyed the movie, I had to get up during it becuase I was getting sick. I moved to the very back of the theater, and was okay there. I didn't think I'd be bothered by the shaky cam as much as I was.

Right. Remember that she got STD tests every three months. So she was a prostitute that was at least somewhat religious.

Totally different take
I can understand all the points made by people here, but I don't see the show in that way at all.

Conaway
I loved Conaway on Babylon 5. I'm a nerd, it's okay. I was dishearted to see someone I associated with such a strong character look so feeble on Celebrity Fit Club. Yeah, I can be a shallow nerd, it's okay, too. And, now, here he is, looking worse.

And that poor guy! Getting all that waxed just to sing "Don—" before getting cut off?

Tearjerker
C+ for American Dad tonight? I'm surprised by that. I found myself really enjoying this episode from top to bottom. Sure, Bond is an easy parody, but I still think they did it well.

Yeah, I guess it does mean that I know better than his bandmates. If his bandmates are willing to tolerate an abusive asshole that likes beating up people half his size, then they're deserving of a good helping of blame themselves.

No, sorry. I'm a capitalist libertarian, but at least I can discern that someone that beats his girlfriend deserves to be shunned.

Boycott them
I posted a couple responses above, but I'll compile my thoughts in this post.

I'm not with you. Unless they kick this asshole out of the band, then they're tacitly approving what he did. And anyone that continues to support them does the same.

I'm also a regular reader of her blog, and have been for a little while now. Sweatpants, you're welcome to malign her, but be aware that you're way off. She was easily the smartest and most entertaining person to be on the show, both that season and ever since.

Old versus New
Watched the first hour from the Sunday show, and I enjoyed it well enough. Though it didn't have quite the momentum of the original. I'll give them slack, though, and let them find their footing. The first season of the original wasn't all that, either.

An A for Soulja Boy?
Come on, Steve. While I certainly appreciate your bowling story, I don't think it elevates this dreck to an A rating. And I've also seen scantily-clad young co-eds dancing to it, but that only made the song slightly more tolerable.

Double dumbass on you.

Coming to Austin?
Not seeing this movie is killing me.

If I knit a blanket from August 1, 1876 to July 31, 1877, have I kntted for a year or for years?

"This is true."
I know that this comment thread has devolved into a "pet peeve" thread, so I'll throw mine in there.

As someone who is not a music geek…
…I find myself very interested in what will come of this. The music sections in the AV Club are typically those that hold the smallest interest to me. While, in general, I heartily respect the critics here, I just can't connect to you guys in music reviews. I'll refrain from the

Sorbo
Here's a good illustration of how sad I think this is… I saw the large version in the link, and saw Kevin Sorbo's name in the credits at the bottom. I unironically thought, "Wow, Kevin Sorbo must be getting desperate; he's too good for this. He starred in Andromeda." Then I relized what a damning statement
