Feeling exactly the same. Terrible news.

It's a solid EP, and I'm glad it's out there - like you say, it's always good to get more Jens songs. But this just seems too fussed over and old and staid to me, and man am I glad that he's said these are songs that wouldn't work on his upcoming album. Decent Lekman work like this still hits all the Jonathan…
Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space
Maybe posting too late to make a real impact, but even as OK Computer's impact on me has diminished over the years, Spiritualized's masterpiece remains one of my favorite albums of all time. The emotion and the production and the melodies - absolutely an amazing record,…
Rewatched The Pandorica Opens/Big Bang today, and while this wasn't as great as that two parter (quite likely my favorite finale since the relaunch) it was pretty phenomenal. I definitely agree with Keith that it's the best of the Christmas specials, and that teaser at the end has me incredibly anxious for season 6…
Absolutely try it. Or "Discover America," which is maybe easier to get into (if arguably not quite as good.) My intro to Parks's non-Smile work was "Jump," which is a totally bizarre jumping-on point in retrospect but was the only CD my library had in those just-pre mp3 times. I've been a fan ever since, though I…
"Cry When You Get Older" is really the only obvious omission here - I thought it was one of the best songs from either of the first two. I'd definitely trade it for "We Dance to the Beat."
River Deep, Mountain High
I agree with most of the review, and thought this was the best episode of Glee in a while, but I have to take exception with Todd's positive reaction to this song. Yes, Amber Riley can sing, but she's no Tina Turner. She's not even Diana Ross, and Ross couldn't pull off the song either - it…
Watchmen comparison
I enjoyed the discussion of Scott Pilgrim a lot - it's rare, in the AV Talks I've heard, for there to be that level of disagreement, and that was a lot of fun. But man, I thought Wright pulled off the anti-Watchmen here: Scott Pilgrim is a movie that (though it does include bits pulled straight…
After the last few episodes, this was bound to be a step down
But I think overall it was a strong ending to what's been a brilliant season, and one of the few times that I've really gotten to see a show hit its stride so early and so well. It's been a hell of a year, and I hope they can keep it up.
Read this not expecting much
I didn't really have much interest in Long, but he comes off really well here - I think the only thing (besides commercials) that I'd seen him in before was Galaxy Quest, before I knew who he was. This makes me want to follow his work a bit more closely. Except Alvin, obviously.
Wish they would've considered Jon Hamm
But I guess I can see Evans pulling it off, as long as they get a decent script.
Oh well
I had hoped that The Very Best would at least merit a mention in the individual lists; at least I got well-written SFA and Mew nods. While I may not be totally in agreement with any of the lists here - who would be? - I at least enjoyed reading them and came away with a couple albums I want to check out and a…
Scott Pilgrim
Absolutely the most glaring omission from an otherwise very solid list.
When this leaked last year…
I was a little disappointed. But whether it's the sequencing, the (slight) changes in the tracklisting, or just that it's a year later and I'm looking for something different than I was in '08, this has quickly become a favorite. Definitely a worthy follow-up to Anniemal, I'd say.
Best episode yet?
This was the only time so far that I haven't thought "okay, I'll give the show just one more episode (not a firstie attempt, I promise) to win me over." The themes and plots all tied together, and I really felt like everything clicked. We'll see how things go when Terri shows up again, but I really…
I missed that until the screencap up top, because Daryl didn't even mention it. Awesome gag.
I also thought it was Princeton, but I guess prison makes sense too? With the orange at least?
I doubted this could live up the the mixtape
That was one of my favorite releases of last year. And man, I was glad to be proven wrong. Easily one of the best three albums I've heard this year, and could be #1 depending on my mood.
Lou Christie
Granted, his best work was rarely commercially successful, but Christie's got a vastly superior back catalog to Frankie Valli, especially if you include the awesome productions he did with The Tammys.
