Training Day won't be forgotten; it will forever be discovered by future generations who will say to themselves, "That's the movie Denzel Washington won Best Actor for!?"

If I'm ever trying to make myself smile, I just imagine H. Jon Benjamin as Coach McGuirk saying, "Brendon…Brendon…"

Croupier for the New Cult Canon!

I was going to suggest Robbie Fulks too, @avclub-09b32d4543fc2ee24d95a7a08b215d1d:disqus .  He plays pretty straight up, classic styled country music but he's a sly and clever songwriter and he hates the "Young Money" wing of the Nashville scene too.  You could do well to start with either his debut, Country Love Songs

I heart Light In The Attic.

Yea, "The Jenny McCarthy Show is a … half-hour of television." is the perfect capper.

Not a problem, @avclub-86bf4249c40be998048133f498828f5f:disqus ; thanks for the fix!

Yea, with three pages of article and over 1000 comments, nobody mentions his real identity in the Super Bowl Ad Crosstalk.  He was the first thing I thought of when I saw that spot! Interesting point on how he's marginalized for his appearance, @avclub-71348decaf1df2bb85be2ece24cc2a1d:disqus .

Best thing the Grammy's broadcast has done in my lifetime (outside of providing stage time for ODB and Soy Bomb) is stop showing the awards being given out on TV.  They give out 78 awards and only show about ten.

"Can the 15 minutes of fame for Walter be over yet?"

BALLARD PRIDE!  We still miss you in Seattle, Neko.

Sasquatch is a really great festival.  Tip o' the hat to Mr. Zacks for the work he puts into it and thanks to @marahe:disqus for the interview; it's interesting to see a bit of the process of how something like this comes together.

I always looked at going early as just enhancing the value of the ticket price.  If I can get the average cost per band seen in a day to under $10, then it takes the pressure off the experience being "worth it" - I'll feel better about just experiencing it for what it is.

I'll take a similar approach, and it usually pays off with some pleasant surprises. With knowing very little about either, I saw Jay Reatard early on a side stage one year at the Capital Hill Block Party and Helio Sequence in the EMP at noon at Bumbershoot, and was blown away by each.

I'm getting the feeling that both grades were given because the movie is so awful.

"The film serves another crucial function as…Charlie Sheen['s]…-triumphant return to film"

CQ for the New Cult Canon!

All together, I've seen them over 20 times and there has been some variation there - sometimes they were a bit 'meh' but other times have been among the best shows I've ever seen (that's why I keep going back.  When it's good, it's really good)  The festival shows I've seen are among the more mediocre for them.  The

New lineup?!? What happened to Brett Nelson and Scott Plouf?  Can we get a little reporting here?
