"I found myself thinking, “Huh, this could be cool,” before immediately remembering that no, it almost certainly wouldn’t be." That pretty much sums up my attitude towards re-watching the series.

I saw this episode during my early teens and found it really unsettling, partly due to the way Death was portrayed ('nasty, brutal' - summed up brilliantly in the review).  This might not make any sense but, at the time, I didn't have any problem 'accepting' liver eating mutants or little grey men but 'immortal

Thanks to the repeats on the tv at the moment, i've just realised that 'Tes Dos Bichos' follows 'Pusher' which makes it seem even worse.

The "not his face!" bit is my favourite part too, closely followed by Mulder and Scully's swaying in sync during the dance. Mulder's quips to/about Daryl are pretty good - 'we wanna see the king' and the 'where's Sheila? 'Where's your leg'? exchange'.

The bit where Mulder pulls down the loft ladder, gets covered in quicklime and yells 'i'm all right!' to Scully, only for her to reply 'What?!' always makes me laugh.

They now show it regularly during 11 am repeats on a cable channel - it is edited but not by that much.

I like the 'glamorous' headshot the FBI have on file for Mulder -keeping in line with the digs at Duchovny's looks (the 'damn good looking man' comment by Van Blundht in 'Small Potatoes' and that bit at the end of 'Humbug'). Maybe i've read too much into that.

Me too… I think the dvd commentary for 'Pusher' mentions the original line, during the scene where Mulder tries on the SWAT team head gear before he goes into the hospital to hunt Modell was 'does this thing get the Discovery channel?' (or something to that effect) however Duchovny changed it to 'the Playboy channel'

Yes… in 'Three of a Kind' (i think) when he meets a drugged up, flirtatious Scully in Las Vegas.

It was only on the third or fourth time watching this episode that I realised Mulder said 'bee pollen' to Scully in the conversation convincing her of his identity.  I like that little look Duchovny does in that conversation just after the wife yells at the two of them, as if to say 'see?!'.
