I think your "picks good ones" logic is flawed.  He was in Knight and Day, Rock of Ages, and Jack Reacher in recent years.

I do kind of want to see Mouse and West hook up, but I hope the show takes its time to actually develop their grudging respect, friendship, and eventual romance.

I think some shows do normal family relationships well, but for something outrageous like Hansel and Gretel, based on a fucked up fairy tale to begin with, there's no real depth to actually develop those relationships.  Unless my friends who did see the film missed something, it's just shallow, flashy, "edgy"…
