God damn, I need to get up on my britpop. I haven't really listened to most of the bands you listed there… didn't realize how ignorant i am of the genre.

I don't hate Oasis. They have some good songs. I just think that Blur were a far better band, despite garnering significantly less recognition at the time.

Not all britpop was bad, though the only band that I think could truly be counted among the 'greats' is Blur. So, of course, Oasis trounced them commercially, because that's how that shit goes.

Congratulations is fantastic. I don't really get all the bitching that it was some kind of super-difficult ultra-pretentious follow-up… it's just a bunch of fucking great pop tunes, and it baffles me that showing the slightest hint of legitimate ambition or innovation in pop music gets such a harsh reaction.

The end of "Walkabout" is still one of the best twists I've seen on television.
