Watched this all the time as a kid and loved it. While I realise none of the stuff I was into as a 13-year old would be critically acclaimed cinema, as a grown-up I'm still surprised by how despised a lot of my teen-hood favourites are.
Still I'll never forget the fun I had with the likes of Starsky & Hutch, Rush Hour,

Yes, the article was compiling some of his past work. But a good dig should be original…no?
Wait, this is such a weird way to defend a played out joke.

HAHAHAHAHA, from that South Park episode 5 years ago, HAHA, good one… ha.

Time to get that shovel…

This is still sci-fi territory, but even if the current situation doesn't alarm you, there is definite cause for worry.
There will be a point where the data collected on each individual will be so extensive that everyone will have a criminal profile; and not only on what you've done, but what you're likely to do,

I remember in the German dubbed Die Hard movies, the villains are all Russian, but they still have names like Hans and Klaus.
Also, instead of 'yippikayay motherfucker', German bruce willis says 'yippikayay piggy-cheek', only because the German word for that (Schweinebacke) dubs well over 'motherfucker'.

I can honestly say the first LotR was a magical experience for me. That was some epic world building and the story took the right time to unfold. The second and third movies felt both rushed and drawn out in the wrong parts and didn't really touch me. These were already more enjoyable blockbusters than epic fantasy

'padded'! Thank you! That's the word I've been looking for when describing why I found these movies so disappointing.
Just like the book, there is stuff for one good movie here. And they went and padded it with rollercoaster-sequences (seriously, so many rollercoaster-sequences).

I think this article focuses on Kanye's producing skills and his ability to collaborate. There could be a whole other article about the times his lyrics challenged conventions and changed what people thought rap could be. And another article about all the artists who would cite Kanye as their influence.
Kanye is

It's fascinating how 808s & Heartbreaks got weird looks when it was released (the pinnacle being the SP episode), and if you listen back to it now, you notice how basically all of pop music now sounds like it.
Whether that's a good or bad thing is a different story but he is undeniably a trendsetter.

Agree on Kanye's lyrics being hilarious at times, and I also think he's got some very empowering verses that have honestly resonated with me.
One quote I once heard from him (that applies to me at least): 'If you're a fan of Kanye West, you are a fan of yourself!'

I have way more hate for the paparazzi beleaguering a guy on his driveway than I have schadenfreude at the guy stumbling while trying to avoid them.
Seriously imagine that. An army of strangers with cameras, outside your house. All the time.

This comment was out 9 hours ago, how can they still not have changed it? Get it together, AV Club.

Watching Harmontown, was anyone else reminded of Conan O'Brien Can't Stop? Two people whose creative work I love, but who seem slightly unhinged when you get a look behind the scenes.

What if he just wore, like, 50 condoms at once.

I'm half German, half Pakistani, so my first name is Tobias… yes, Tobias as in Fünke; and my middle name is that lion from Narnia.

I'm surprised one of them is 'both a father and a husband'. Aren't they underage?

Do we know which city the ship is taking them to? Because depending on that, we could get arya, tyrion and varys meet-cuting in a Braavosi pizzeria, or a motherofdragons-imp-spider showdown (varys and greyworm - i want to see that interaction)!
Or Tyrion and Varys just road trip through the continent…they run into

I'm curious, it might just be me as a native German speaker, but does anyone else notice Shae and Jacqen Hagar's thick German accents? They are both played by German actors, but I guess because of their non-German (i.e. not white) looks, their accent gets reframed as simply something 'foreign'. So on the show, rather

cool thanks, that clears it up a bit. I guess the old guy is one of these magic seers they mention in the video.
