Maybe I'm slipping into old age myself, but I can't believe how much I see that ridiculous sentiment written by you youngsters.

Of course Letterman's not as "edgy" as he was 20 years ago, but he can still be pretty great. His weary, sarcastic crankiness and total lack-of-give-shit during the election made his the best talk show for political humor, in my opinion.

It's easy to make that statement about actresses but there's plenty of examples of women in their 40s and older who are still getting great roles.

I wouldn't say it's "like" some weird tongue-in-cheek performance art. It IS weird tongue-in-cheek performance art. But yeah, that's a good record, and baffling to many high school alternatypes who discover Sonic Youth through "Washing Machine."

I'll always have fond memories of the way she brought back this country's spirits after 9/11 with that lovely poem on Leno.
