That's very true. The very first episode was about how they had absolutely no money to buy Christmas presents. Or when they had to drive many towns over to replace their broken TV at some outlet store that carried Sorny and Magnetbox.

I was thinking of that show, too. It didn't mock the situation, they just happened to be in it. And Malcolm's genius was supposed to help them get past that. I recently saw the last episode of the show where Malcolm's parents already had specific plan that would end with Malcolm would end up being president and his

Interesting that the banner for this article includes Al Bundy himself. "Married… with Children" was not only all about a family of poor losers, it laughed at their misery. Certainly not the sentimental kind of show that really got into issues of a struggling family or anything, but part of its appeal is seeing people

I'm never again going to take it lightly when someone says "Good luck." I can kind of see Gyp's way of considering that term to be condescendingly insulting. At least in his circumstances. Nucky says, let's be friends, buys him a steak, gets him laid and sends him on his way. All really just to shut him up

"Who's on first? How the fuck am I supposed to know? You think everyone's just supposed to know who's on first??"

Ha! He does sound like Roger Rabbit, doesn't he? You get 5 comment points for that one.

One thing I hasn't noticed is the "Ah, what the @#$%" way they had Roy's wedding be early on a weekday. Since they gave us no good explanation as to why that was, they obviously cared little that it was transparent it was on a weekday so we could still cut back to the office.

"When did the term, "moustache rides," become something that could be said on prime time television? I'm not mad, I'm just curious. I was never told."

I dunno. I'm not sure Scranton is that small a world. And even if Phyllis and Darryl knew what Roy was up to, they may think it's best not to bring up Roy to Jim and Pam.

It's definitely the case that the reason for Jim and Pam boringness is the need for these series to go so long. While I'm not a fan of the British one (meaning I haven't watched much of it, not that I don't like it), I appreciate the way the Brit shows are short. It's as if everything between the Jim and Pam
