Honestly, I never had an issue with the farting aliens. They were in one episode mostly, it was during the 1st season of the rebooted series so they were still testing the waters (balancing the kids/adults elements), and it seems to me that RTD redeemed them (or, more accurately, developed them) in Boomtown. There's a

I think it's mainly because TW was just, inherently, weak to begin with - cast, premise, pacing, etc.

Agreed. I definitely missed the lighter, pulpier Who once in a while. Say what you will about RTD, but he never shanked on the intergalactic fun for essentially two whole seasons.

I would suggest to take a gander at as many b/w comedy groups as possible, mainly because the "core" of a lot of cartoons are based on that. In fact, animators from that era and comedy teams would often swap ideas and gags to influence each other.

She reminds me a lot of Frankie from Foster's, who also was pretty cool - it was a bit trickier to read her mainly because she was interacting with imaginary figures instead of other human beings, but you could tell the depth was there.

I loved it at first, but you could tell by S2 they were spinning their wheels. Then the S3 premiere gave it a kick in the right direction… only to completely lose me when they tried so, so hard to make the Cylons into misunderstood good guys. That may have worked with week/season breaks, but marathoning it on Netflix

Victorious is bad, but it's… clever bad. Like they once did a parody of freaking Match Game, for no reason at all. Kids wouldn't get the jokes, nor would the actors playing the various celebrity contestants, so it was so odd watching their bad attempts at mimicking what they probably watching over a couple of Youtube

Right? There's lazy stereotypes, then there's "not even trying" stereotypes. Worshiping Napoleon? Children emulating Joan of Arc? These don't even make any sense.

I maintain that Merril Hoge is still a damn good analyst as a former football player, and is indeed the last bastion of hope of ESPN. Unlike Mike Ditka, who represents awesome in every way, yet ESPN still manages to fuck THAT up.

Yeah, it's not a bad show, although all the interesting stuff comes from Nicole, the mother, who seems to be masking a huge amount of pain and anguish and anger behind a veneer of motherly tranquility, so it's always funny to see her suddenly lash out and become ultra-aggressive.
