I never really had a Zeppelin phase, I was more into The Who. Never had a Doors phase either. I listened to both Zeppelin and The Doors in high school, but was never obsessed over them like I was with The Beatles, Stones, Who, and Kinks.

I definitely think criticism of disco is legitimate, there were some pretty lousy songs, which is true of every genre. At the time, I think the entire genre was unfairly dismissed, despite there being some great tracks like Donna Summer's "I Feel Love."

I love Bangs, but I find him hit or miss at times, but that's part of what I like about his stuff. Christgau is like a twelfth grader whose ego got inflated after being told his poem was good by his English teacher.

I loathe Christgau. He's a smug asshole in love with his voice. The only thing of his that I agree with is his assessment of disco criticism and its roots in misogyny, racism, and homophobia. I hate him almost as much as Dave Marsh.

I'm inclined to agree with you about the themed episodes. I enjoyed them quite a bit, but the non-themed episodes seems lackluster in comparison. Thought the season had a rough patch at the beginning but got better as it went along. Since coming back from hiatus, I thought they'd found a pretty solid groove, matching

This reminds me a lot the Beach Boys. Dan Harmon is Community's Brian Wilson, both for creative abilities and his personal problems. The output of the band following Brian's mental breakdown during SMiLE is decent, I'll be the first to defend the groups late 60s/early 70s output, but it doesn't hold a candle to what

The last time I felt this sad about a piece of entertainment news was when Alex Chilton died.

Wish they'd have just put us out of misery instead of torturing us like this.

Todd was a guest professor at my university when I was a senior in college. He's friends with the professor I worked for as a grading assistant, so I was able to meet him. He was a really cool dude. He spoke at a couple of the rock history classes, very articulate and interesting speaker. My school's marching band
