I'll always have a soft spot for the Monkees, because they were one of my Dad's favorite bands. He still has all their albums on vinyl, even though he hasn't had a working turn table in decades. My introduction was during car rides to school, listening to their Greatest Hits on cassette.

But it was too late.

The Hub airs both B:TAS and the '60s Adam West Batman. But there's no S:TAS to be found.

I think the main reason for moving away from earlier shows is the shortening of sitcom run-times. I'm catching up on Mary Tyler Moore on DVD, and I was surprised to see that the average episode, from opening titles to closing credits is about 25:30. That's over 3 minutes of valuable advertising time!

Imprisoned. I now know it's nowhere near the best the show had to offer, but even then it was apparent that this was something special. Beautifully animated, high-concept, and funny. The line that got me:

By the way, what ever happened to those My So Called Life reviews? The coverage just stops with four episodes to go. I know Amelie doesn't write here anymore, but I guess there aren't any plans to push through to the finish line on that one? Too bad, because it's a great show.
