Just dropping in to say this was the first episode I watched, and it was amazing. I'll be back next week, and watching like a hawk for re-runs.

Clever bit of writing in the Andrea and Carol scene: Andrea asks the baby's real name, and Carol tells her it's Judith. Then Carol tells Andrea to use her access to the Governor's bedroom to slit his throat….the same way Judith killed the Assyrian general Holofernes in the Book of Judith. Nice reference if it was

Obvously "Hulk" was destined to flop. If only one of the studio heads had the foresight to say:

At first I thought that Troy was Tigger and Abed was Piglet, which definitely made Britta's ham costume a lot funnier when they were talking about couples' costumes.

I read that as Dragonswaps, which was either going to be a show like Wife Swap — only with dragons! — or a show about an enormous Norse flea market / adopt-a-dragon fair. Now I want to see Dragonwaspswaps!

I used to watch this show all the time as a kid. It was pleasantly unsettling, if that's possible. Even the spiral staircase episode was kind of spooky, mostly because of the music and Robert Stack's narration.

Did you catch the UPA animated short of The Tell Tale Heart on Sunday? I watched it this morning, and found it suitably creepy and unsettling. The whole thing was shot from the madman's POV, which combined with James Mason's excellent first-person narration really captured the mix of gothic horror and insanity central

Not only Jefferson, but also Charles Dickens and Leo Tolstoy. Scott Carter wrote a one-act play in which they all talk to each other about the exercise. He discussed it with Marc Maron on WTF a while back.

Aw, thanks, @avclub-6997a8bd0e1042b70b60c5c879a1780e:disqus. I'm with you on the somewhat thin characterization of San by Miyazaki standards, but to be fair, I don't know that I'd call her the female protagonist. This is very much Ashitaka's movie, as essentially the entire story is told from his perspective. He's the

I just now got that the title is a penis joke. Now I feel dumb.

I love both, but I give the edge to Mononoke, if only for the sheer scope of its ambition and the remarkable way it pulls it off. By the time everything comes to a head, there are at least three sides rushing into battle, none of which is completely in the wrong or in the right, plus another half dozen characters
