I don't believe in God, and I try not to be superstitious, but…..2016 has been a terrible years, and not just because of the celebrity deaths. Various news events in the world, and in the US, have been awful and, as I mentioned above, I lost my dearest friend this year.

2016 sucks for many, many reasons. We're talking about it in the context of celebrity deaths because a celebrity just died. There are other reasons. The election this year was an abomination, for one thing. As you mention, Syria is a nightmare right now. For me, 2016 will always be, first and foremost, the year where

That is awesome!

She mouthed off to Vader and Tarkin, and never ended up giving up the location of the Rebel base, despite the torture and the threat of her home planet's destruction. She was absolutely a bad-ass!

*ahem*…Mon Mothma?

Yeah, I was expecting it too, but I was hoping against hope that she'd pull through.

Death has altered 2016. I pray it doesn't alter it further.

…and Donald Trump will be president.

Tell me about it, stud.

Chiana from Farscape? Turanga Leela from Futurama? Major Kira from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine?

Yeah, I remember when The Force Awakens came out, a lot of people were thankful to "finally" have a strong female role in the Star Wars franchise. I was like, "WTF?! There already was one!" The first thing we see Leia do in the original film is kill a Stormtrooper. Even when she's captured, she mouths off to Darth

I loved that guest spot. It also showed what a sense of humor she had about herself. She quoted the "Help me…You're my only hope!" line.

I somehow managed to go in un-spoiled (for Leia, though not for Tarkin). I'm glad I did. Seeing her up there, knowing that she was in dire health, was really powerful.

Definitely makes it more meaningful. When I saw it (after her cardiac arrest, but before her death), it really hit me emotionally. The crowd I saw it with applauded!

I saw it for the first time on the 25th, and the moment at the end hit me a lot harder than it would have if I had seen it before, when she was still in good health.

I thought it looked great. The audience I saw it with clapped (this was after her cardiac arrest on the plane).

I'm better 2016 will keep killing right up until the end. They'll be dropping the ball, and "8! 7! **BREAKING NEWS, we are sad to report that ____ had died** 5! 4! 3!…."

…and Mick and Keef.

She also did a great guest appearance on 30 Rock.

You're going to have a helluva time getting home from Mexico, what with that wall Trump's absolutely going to build in real life.
