I am recent to Medford and agree that 'downtown" is now Davis Square, which is strange since downtown, when I lived in Somerville, was downtown Boston. Now that i am in Medford, I would never say I am from Boston, but would likely use "Boston area" if traveling, whereas when I lived in Somerville, I might say Boston,

As with everything, context, context, context. It's difficult to explain why those Replacements albums were so powerful in a vacuum outside the 80s. Not that they're not still powerful, but they were like a bolt of lightening back then for some reason.

I recall deciding to go see Sebadoh, in a club CT, rather than the Archers, who were playing the same night. I wonder if it was the same show?  It's been a decision I've quesioned ever since (although Sebadoh were great that night).

Excellent example. GBV never topped the sequencing of that album. "Hot Freaks" into "Smothered in Hugs" ain't too shabby either.

So I resisted the urge to buy the new Bob Mould, fearing it would both inevitably disappoint and reaffirm my inability to find artists whose careers were birthed in this century; but I did randomly see Beach House live (never having heard of them), bought their album and 'got into them, man'. Obviously we can see from

"Deep Space Homer" and "$pringfield" are interchangeably as great as any single episode from this season before mentioned, but a pinnacle must be chosen, and I have met that challenge and chosen it based on the incredible three episode run we are on, one I defy anyone to top in Simpsons history. I admit this criteria

"Cape Feare", "Homer Goes to College" and now "Rosebud". This is the pinnacle, folks. It can't get better, and never will. From these heady heights we can look down upon all other TV, all other American "Culture", or what sadly passes for it, and simultaneously sneer and lament that now that we've been here we'll

I saw Color Me Obsessed a few month's back. There's no getting around the fact that the more you love the Replacements, the more you will enjoy and appreciate (and perhaps identify) with this film. That being said, I attended with my wife, who isn't a huge Mats fan, and she still enjoyed it. What I suspect, comparing

I think "All Shook Down" has aged quite well. It's somewhat hit or miss, but the good stuff is quite good, and its ramshackle and loose feel is much truer to how I view the Replacements than "Don't Tell a Soul" with its execrable 80's production. ASD feels like a resigned turn away from DTaS's stab at mainstream

Is he saying "put that, put that, put that, call your bluff" or am I on drugs? Or both? I figured it out first.

Both the UK Office and Curb trade in cringe-inducing agony more than standard sitcom comedy, so I agree taste is a huge component. You might like the US version of the Office much better than you imagine, particularly after it moved away influence-wise from its antecedent. It's much less realistically painful, and
