As I understand it, Shoshanna wasn't even supposed to be a regular- they just liked Mamet so much that they made her one. So I doubt Dunham came up with a first-season character arc for her like she obviously has the others. I expect more out of her next year.

I think it's the fact that they're still complaining about it, coming up on ten years later. I get that they want to see more, but come on. It's sixteen hours of work, and the devotion borders on the fanatical.

Right? That would have worked perfectly and added a nice shade to a somewhat dull character.

I'm with you there. And Toph makes up for it with his absolutely stunning arc. Second or third in the Whedonverse, IMO.

See, if I've gotta pick a least favorite, it's Inara In a walk. She's got a flatness to her that I've never found appealing or interesting.

Oooh, this looks like a fun game!
Buffy: The Body
Firefly: Objects in Space
Angel: Not Fade Away
Dollhouse: The Attic (although I haven't watched in a couple years, could change)

I like Simon! I've never gotten the hate for him, other than the fact that he feels less fun than some of the others. But he's the straight man! It's necessary.

Yeah, Cordelia growing into the group is so surprisingly natural that it's weird to go back to the first season and see how antagonistic she is.

Yeah, Boreanaz doesn't really come into the role until about s3. Marsters, though? That walk-in in the beginning just sells his character. School Hard is the episode I use to introduce people to the show. Hauling the Annoying One up into the sunlight is basically Whedon's "fuck you" to hidebound narrative structures.

It's on the DVD's if you happen to have those, otherwise I guess you'll have to scour the internet.
