It's just so fun. And happy without being cloying. And just weird enough that I can't see the jokes coming. I'm at a point where I look forward to it more than anything but Community.

Oh, yeah, I don't think we've seen Shelby in like seven or eight episodes, so for them to be all lovey-dovey was weird. I still think they need to figure Winston out; he's had some pretty fantastic moments (the freakout a couple weeks ago and the showtunes were both choice) but he doesn't seem to fit into the main

@avclub-1881baeccb7399f3452cd7f37cdb2b29:disqus Yeah, I really liked that intro from last week, when they were discussing whether or not Cece was pregnant. It'd be interesting to compare how this show handled the situation as opposed to Girls; unless I'm wrong, both shows discussed the option of having an abortion

Anybody else find that scarecrow kinda terrifying? When they panned over to it while Nick and Winston were talking, I kinda jumped. I think it was the zipped-up hoodie.

Wasn't Winston kind of implying he should take another shot at Caroline, though? He'd tried again with Shelby and it worked out, and something like that might work for Nick. Of course, Nick completely missed the "grow up" part of the message, but I can understand where he got the idea from.

Ooh look, it's me!

@Grrr. Argh. Yeah, but I want her to grow up! I invest in fictional characters way too quickly.

And I have a thing for sarcastic slacker girls, which is probably why I like Hannah the best.

@avclub-6997a8bd0e1042b70b60c5c879a1780e:disqus I'm not sure that's it at all, though. Look at the scene where they're having sex - he's trying to get her to engage with him, yeah, but he's stating upfront "this is what I want to do." He changes over when she asks him to, yeah, but I see that as sexual etiquette more

@avclub-1881baeccb7399f3452cd7f37cdb2b29:disqus Right there with you on the grossness thing - I've been reading Garth Ennis since I was sixteen, so I can pretty much just glaze over it by now, but I feel like there's just not a lot of repeat value in shock humor or "filthy" jokes or whatever. One of the reasons I

I don't know, I personally find Marnie the least relate able, or at least the blandest. I can tell that she's supposed to be the uptight, stragihlaced, etc. type, but something's not clicking for me with her.

Ugh, that whole set of tweets was pretty gross. Girl doesn't understand how privilege works at all. Has she been fired or anything?

@avclub-1881baeccb7399f3452cd7f37cdb2b29:disqus My fear is that that'll be funny right up until Hannah and Adam get together and he's suddenly her soulmate or some shit.

The HIV monologue, to me, was meant to be awkward, stupid, and honest at the same time. There was no point when I wasn't thinking "wow, you really don't want AIDS, you idiot" but I also completely bought that Hannah would say that. It's stupid and dramatic, yeah, but I think her character is a little stupid and

Is that worth it? I still haven't watched it.

@avclub-4297ef5f39f4aeb86d80ec9744cd2990:disqus Fair enough, and I'm glad it works for you. I think that reading a transcript, the jokes work well enough, but the actor's delivery (which is so similar I feel that it must be a directorial decision) is just forcing the vast majority of jokes to die on the floor. The

@avclub-4acd793a645f227d84ddb7c4c3f16603:disqus If you can find this episode through… whatever means necessary, I think you'll see it lighten up a little bit. Community has a more excitable tone, while Girls are more laid back, but I think they were a little closer in form tonight.

@avclub-1881baeccb7399f3452cd7f37cdb2b29:disqus Wow. I mean, I can see that Adam would be fun to write for, just for the ridiculousness of his dialogue, but there is nothing about him that strikes me as anything less than one-dimensional. And Walt Whitman figure? I mean, I guess I could see how Hannah could see him

Eh, I don't really like Louie or Louis C.K. too much. Just kinda…gross, I guess. But does the dialogue in this show not bother you at all? I really couldn't get over how they were talking, which is an incredibly stupid detail to get hung up on but still bugs me. I haven't watched The Thick of It, maybe the delivery

@avclub-1881baeccb7399f3452cd7f37cdb2b29:disqus I don't know - after this episode, the show feels much more like a comedy to me. I feel like a drama should have more… plot? The episode set up its stakes in the first couple minutes and doesn't really stray from them. The focus is on character work, rather than on plot
