We didn't have cable at my house until I was well into high school, so my mother and I had only heard about South Park via TV Guide, friends and the like.  Imagine my surprise when, at  the tender age of 15, my mother suggests we go to the theater and see South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut as our first SP experience.

I agree.  I've heard multiple times that Whedon tried to make this more accessible to people who were not fans of the series.  Making it look more shiny and Sci-Fi-like instead of warm and dirty Western-like was a part of that.

These are the kind of questions that are just BEGGING to be answered with another movie or series.  Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see that.

It's been pretty clear throughout that Whedon and all involved parties would love to go back to this world.  Sadly, no network/studio will want to invest money in a series that pulled in some pretty low ratings and a movie that wasn't a "blockbuster."  Sad, but true.

Agreed.  This definitely feels more like an Aliens-style movie and less like the warm, wonderful world of Firefly that we know and love.
