The John Tesh sketch was a ripoff from a sketch performer who had been doing it on and off for 4 years, and it's been on-line for 2 years.

FYI - The "Pizza Eater" Sketch, as well as the "Ranch Dressing" and "Balloon Humping" sketches from her previous hosting gig were all sketches McCarthy did on stage at the Groundlings.

@coke - it was a bit part. Recurring obnoxious guy in Barney & Marshall's office.

He was on Mad TV when he was 19 years old for a half-season, then chose not to go back. He then went through the Groundlings system in L.A. and learned sketch and improv. He recently was voted up into their main company.

I was also thinking Zevon's "Excitable Boy," or "Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner"" or… so many others.

Sad to Say
I saw him in concert in the 80s(the ticket was a gift - certainly didn't pay for it). He did have a well-prepared show, went on for 3 hours. But it was mostly the same schtick you saw from his specials, the jokes were quite obvious and leaden (I'll admit I didn't know that when I was 15…), but the most

Pottersville
Had a more booming economy than Bedford Falls.

The problem I had with Children of Men was that it was basically Logan's Run dressed up to look "important."

I saw The Tenant with one reel out of place (the second to the last one came like two earlier), and no one in the theater (a film class) thought it was odd or disjointed. Or more fucked-up than the rest of the film in straight chronological order.

Two Words
Large Marge.

Credit where credit is due…
I know it's commonplace now to assume all Christopher Guest movies don't have a traditional script, so credit is rarely given to the writers, but this is tightly scripted piece that was co-written by Guest, McKean, and Michael Varhol (who also co-write "Pee-Wee's Playhouse," so the man's

Stand-Up
Saw him years ago (1998) at USC. He did part of his stand-up, then pretty much calmed down and started talking to the audience. He talked to me for about 5 minutes. It wasn't comedy, but it was interesting, and was clearly someone who had tired of the whole "I'm a loony stand-up" hole he was in.

An Honest Mistake
I've sat through some sketch comedy that was akin to terrorism - or at least waterboarding.

Saw it in theaters
I actually saw this movie for free and felt ripped off. Not because it was offensive, mainly because it was boring & didn't go anywhere.

Defending Your Life
Shirley MacLaine - as herself in the Past Lives Pavilion.

The Bank Dick
I just watched this for the first time 2 weeks ago, because WC Fields was lacking in my cinema/comedy history.
