Sepultura never topped "Schizophrenia." And I liked Pantera better when they were known as Exhorder.
It? "Being the adventures of a young man whose principle interests are snails, salt, a pipe, and how to get home. As tormented by an hubristic, racist inner psyche."
A broken old man squirming under Marlene Dietrich's stiletto heel.
Soundgarden were (are?) competent and capable, and had a handful of superlative songs, but after a while Cornell's screechy-screech-screech became insufferable. Nirvana was the better band.
"The Valley of the Gwangi." With that other astronaut from "Beneath the Planet of the Apes."
Saw the P-Orridge COUM Transmissions lecture (and accompanying short films) at MoMA earlier this year. Pretty damn fascinating. Also, I'll be seeing Psychic TV in Brooklyn on Dec. 9. After the fondness Genesis displayed whenever he mentioned Sleazy at his lecture, I full expect some sort of tribute during the show.
Horse Rotorvator, Scatology, L.S.D., Musick to Play in the Dark - classics. I'll add "Astral Disaster." The lyrics to the song "The Sea Priestess" are based on how Aleister Crowley described the magick wall murals at his Abbey of Thelema in Sicily.
….except for the Mexican banditos part, I suppose, unless they're damn dirty race traitors willing to turn their kith and kin over to the aged Hulk and that chunky dude from Marked For Death.
"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, half-wits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shitkickers, and…
And if the kid had just illegally downloaded a copy of "St. Anger," he would have a deserved a hazardous (but uber-metal) Sodom-esque spiked leather forearm band to various areas of the skull. Instant, raw trephination, thrash style.
"As the assassins all grouped in four lines, dancing on the floor…"
Missionary Position: Impossible.
Y Kant Tori Read?
Y not?
Agree with Super Nintendo Chalmers and Mexican Blade. Plus Fox Soccer Channel and Turner Classic Movies (where else was I going to see Marcel Marceau's "Shanks" or the inimitable Peter Cushing in "Corruption?")
[Tig just woke up with the usual severe case of bed-head and wonders what all the commotion is about…]
Albini: bellicose, opinionated, talented -as-all-hell, and shit-stirring to cause discussion from his so-called controversial statements… even though I'm pretty sure even he knows he doesn't entirely mean what he's saying.
Blake's 7
"…a blend of Top Gun with Independence Day…" Please, no.
Listen to the man at the liquor store…
What? No "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" by England Dan and John Ford Coley? No "She's Gone" by Hall and Oates? Outrageous!
Lori Petty may very well still be helping Booker deal with his naturally rebellious private dick angst…
