Yeah, what he said: she was one of the original MTV VJs in the 80's and was featured prominently in Neutrogena commercials around the time this episode originally aired.

Hi Rutger!  Hauer ya doin?

It's been so long since I've seen it syndicated, but I'm pretty sure that the fortified wine bit gets cut.  Ditto the bit after the cliff scene (with Homer attempting to kill the trampoline with a power saw) and the bit with Snake stealing the trampoline.

I'd agree with @avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus - it might be the only Poe/Corman film I've seen, but I was even impressed with it when I saw it back in middle school, when I oblivious to the concept of cinematography.  I remember thinking "wow, this movie just looks great" - and I remember being

Ooh, Chris Onstad.  He's got depression, a recent divorce, cats (even if they're comic strip characters), etc.  Right up Maron's alley.

I listened to that CBB podcast, and I just remembered the Clifton joke that made me laugh way too much (it's probably an old one, too):

I listen to podcasts at the gym.  They make an 30-60 mins on the elliptical somewhat bearable.

But I don't really need it.

Look, Bill Pullman was good in "Spaceballs!" - but not that good.

The first episode isn't incredible or anything, but it sets the basic story for the show, introducing the main characters and all.  It's only 11 mins, why not watch it?

I agree with you to an extent, in that, kind of like Aqua Teen, the first 2-3 seasons are incredible, but it kind of tapered off after that.

Man.  Somebody mentioned "The Heart, She Holler" (what a fucking disappointment) but not "The Eric Andre Show"?

@avclub-f121d09285898f1c66d66f1e6f0455a6:disqus If you're thinking of the Barnes & Noble 50% off sales - as mentioned earlier, they tend to happen twice a year these days.  I think the last one was in November, and the other one usually happens in June/July or so, I think?  I'm pretty sure their both in-store and

Agreed on all counts.  I thought the same thing at first regarding Scrubs, but then I remembered that she was (and still is) married to the creator/exec producer, Bill Lawrence, and he's probably blindly supportive.

@avclub-574cdbbbe4c0155fb026c1b2cb5aafa6:disqus Ah, the Trois Couleurs trilogy on blu ray.  I have that original Miramax box set, and I always thought that looked alright and had plenty of bonus material, so I couldn't justify the expense of getting the Criterion copies (wasn't the large majority of the Criterion

Yeah, she looks pretty scary.  Maybe that stuff settles after a little while, though - her co-star in this show, the woman from Scrubs, had really obvious work done during that series and looked horrible.  From what I've seen from this show (mostly commercials on TBS), she doesn't look quite so off these days.

I haven't - I really haven't seen most of his early stuff (Variety Lights, White Sheik), but at least La Strada and Nights of Cabiria are in the bag now.

Juliet and Nights were the two glaring omissions in the Fellini part of my own "must watch" list, though I just watched Nights of Cabiria last week (DVR'd it from TCM back in the summer).
