The Disreputable Dog

I just finished the season and man, Coco stealth became my favorite character. I can't wait to see what she does after this season (PLEASE LET THERE BE A NEXT SEASON).

I also really hope we get an episode on that girl with the dog. Maybe that'll be the opener for season 2?

It seemed to me like Sam knew that she was somewhat in the wrong — their relationship clearly had some subtext with her wanting to be with him regularly but in secret, in a way that wasn't fair to him, and he knew it and called her out on it. In a really immature way, for sure, and she would have been totally within

Oh, interesting that the movie says that. The show definitely makes it seem like he used to be her TA. Maybe they're trying to retcon that?

I think this does come up in the show, especially in Coco's storyline, although I haven't seen the movie so I can't comment on how it compares to the show.

I get and appreciate that, but I'm a little sad that they apparently felt they had to sacrifice one experience for the other.

That's sad. The racist elements aren't as foregrounded, but are still an integral part of the dystopia, IMO.

Wow, I'm surprised how much the reviewer dislikes this show. I just finished binging S1 and thought it was great. Maybe watching the episodes back to back helps.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any mention of disease in this thread. Charles C. Mann makes some pretty compelling arguments that the European conquest of the Americas was really due to smallpox, viral hepatitis, etc burning through virgin populations — it raced ahead of the Europeans, so by some estimates, something

It bothered me too, but I sort of thought Clive was putting mental air quotes around it, as shorthand to mean the stepfather wasn't explicitly coercing the kid into the relationship. Clive did know that even if it was "consensual," it definitely wasn't okay, so I was able to get past it. But I do wish they'd shown a

It's pretty awesome though!

I'm sort of surprised Seattle isn't doing more to crack down on whatever was going on with Max Rager. And not just Seattle, but the feds. I mean, their product has now been linked to two huge massacres. In fact, why isn't it being boycotted or recalled? (Maybe that's really why Vaughn du Clark sold?)

I was initially squicked out by their cheery presentation of the brain-eating (I generally can't deal with implied or explicit recurring cannibalism). And it was a slow enough burn that the first few episodes didn't really make me want to stick around. But I'm glad I gave it another shot!

I almost didn't believe she was a Kiwi for a while. Her accent is SO good!

My guess is that the reason is to get the Scooby gang on her side — Vivian knows how badass they are and didn't want them opposing her, and killing them would make too many waves. Once she realized Wally and Clive knew each other, that was an obvious weak point in their group. To make absolutely sure they'd join her,

Thanks for laying that all out! Sounds like you're totally right.

Wasn't that the same flashback as when they were deciding to name Sam? I thought it meant that her husband was Sam's real father, even though we thought he was Rosalee's full brother. But maybe I'm mixing it up with another scene.

Whoa, I totally missed that. When did that happen?

Yeah, the snake was taking it a little far. Though I did spend most of the episode assuming she was going to be captured anyway, which made it feel more gratuitous — now that she found the wagon it feels less so.

They do call her Gunny quite a bit, and I couldn't figure out why. In fact at first I thought it was her name. Thanks!
