I mean, yes, there's certainly an element there of Gross asking a question she knows Polley won't answer. When you do that, your question becomes more about you, the interviewer, than the person you're interviewing. My two cents: Gross wasn't out of line. Polley made a deeply personal film about her family, one in which her father talks openly about his inability to keep her mother sexually satisfied. I can't say that I would have the nerve to ask that question, but it's definitely in keeping with the nature of the movie they
