The restored version is my favorite WWII movie ever made.

I guess this is where I ask; are the TV Club Justice League recaps on hiatus? Cause I was looking forward to the last three seasons, in particular that episode.

Glad to see The Great McGinty on this list - one of the great, almost-forgotten movies of the 40's. It's not quite as good as Sturges' best films, but it's a still-trenchant satire. If nothing else, worth watching for this great exchange between a political hack (William Demarest) and a secretary (Muriel Angelus):

Arlington Road has it's problems, but like The Siege (also flawed), it's become even more relevant today. Plus, who'd have thought Joan Cusack, of all people, could scare the shit out of you?

Before I lived in NYC, I would come down to visit a lot (I had friends and family who lived down here), and on one of those visits, some friends and I went and saw the film of "The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe" on opening night. This being before they had credit card machines you could buy your…

She Hate Me is, without a shadow of a doubt, the god-damnedest movie I have seen in my entire life, and yet I can't entirely dismiss it. As noted, it's sexual politics are completely out there, but as a comment on corporate America and responsibility, it's pretty spot on.

I remember when this was going to star Ellen Page and Olivia Thirlby. I wonder if they might have made a better film of this.

I just finished reading Townshend's memoir. It is disjointed in some places, and while I think he wanted to avoid going over well-worn territory - he alludes to the fact he's said most of what he wants to say about "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia" in all their forms on the Who's official website - it is a little too vague…

When I first saw this film, I wasn't crazy about it because I thought Murray Head's character was so annoying - I couldn't understand how two people, let alone two people as interesting and compelling as Peter Finch and Glenda Jackson, could be competing for his attentions. Then when I saw it again, I realized they're…
