I really do not like On Golden Pond - I find it treacly pap instead of heartwarming - but Coleman is the best thing about it. The one scene that works for me is the one where Henry Fonda is trying to bait Coleman about his relationship with Jane Fonda, and Coleman calls him out on his bullshit. Such a great scene.

I haven't watched the Frankenheimer one, but one thing that the Golden Age dramas - and not just the ones in the Criterion box set - can do is showcase certain actors and directors before they became well known, and show they had the talent even then. I know this is heresy in some quarters, for example, but I

Three shows that came to mind for me (aside from the ER episode, which I liked), two where a hostage episode seemed very much in character, one where it didn't:

I can understand the impatience, but they did start answering questions as the show went on (although the revelation about Chi McBride's character I thought was too much of a cliche), and I thought the show was pretty interesting. Actually, it's Alfred from the 60's TV show, and Kevin Conroy even tries to copy Alan Napier's voice as well. Doesn't completely come off, but it's still pretty funny.

One of my favorite Stewart performances as well.

I totally agree with that; the fact he's not this cutesy-looking alien, even though he may sound like one, and Gertie tries her best to make him look like one, makes the story work better. And I remember being terrified as well as heartbroken when he turns white and is sick.

Okay, I'm going to be that guy; I think both "Employee of the Month" and "The Test Dream" need to be ranked in the top 10 (for the former, see my defense of it above, for the latter, I understand why people don't like dream episodes in general and on this show in particular, but I thought it worked brilliantly here),

Okay, I can sort of understand why someone might think "White Caps" and "Pine Barrens" are overrated, even though I happen to love both episodes, and I don't really remember "The Blue Comet", but you thought "Employee of the Month" was overrated? Seriously? Cause that's one of the most disturbing episodes of TV ever,
