I know for a while there was a whole Lost Boys/Near Dark rivalry going on, and while Near Dark is a great movie, I still think Lost Boys is a lot of fun. Sure, it's silly, like a lot of Schumacher films are, but at least it's enjoyably silly. And Herrmann definitely gets into the spirit of it.

It's proof even in the later seasons, which got preachy (to put it mildly), they could still do a good episode ever once in a while. And Herrmann does such a great job not only playing the wisecracking side of his personality (like when he drinks Hawkeye's concoction from the still, grimaces, and says, "Now I know

In Doug Hill and Jeff Weingrad's book about SNL for the first 15 years (I don't know how popular this opinion is, but I prefer it to Tom Shales and James Andrew Miller's "official" history, even though their book is good too), they mention how he was an outsider by choice, but they also mention how he was one of only

Every time I hear people bash critics and how useless they are, I want to remind them if it wasn't for Siskel and Ebert going out of their way to praise this movie, most people wouldn't have heard of One False Move, much less seen it. It was going to get dumped onto cable or straight-to-video otherwise. So that's one

I didn't much care for Deep Cover, except for Goldblum in a rare bad-guy role; to me, the film is incredibly self-conscious about being hard-boiled (unlike One False Move), as if it's announcing to the world, "Okay, I'm HARD-BOILED!" Just got repetitive after awhile.

I think Reservoir Dogs holds up very well, but it is easy to forget how many rip-offs of it came out afterwards. Of course, it's also easy to forget how, around that time and immediately after, a lot of indie films were also Mean Streets rip-offs as well.

And it was directed by…drum roll, please…Sidney Lumet. I know he often talked about how it was more important for him to work than to wait for that perfect script to come around, but Jesus.

No, Single White Female is all about the "Lesbians are evil! EVIL!" vibe.

Maybe, but to me, there's about 15-20 minutes of the movie where it seems like it could have been a sexier, raunchier version of The Thomas Crown Affair, and had they gone that route, I think it would have been a better film. Instead, the whole second half of the movie, where they try to convince you Jeanne
